Oko West - Health & Safety Superintendent

Job Description

We are currently seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Health & Safety Superintendent to join our team in Guyana at the Oko West Mine Site.

• Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Health & Safety Management System for the Oko West Project, ensuring compliance with company standards, Guyanese regulations, and industry best practices.
• Oversee health and safety personnel, contractors, and site activities, ensuring effective hazard identification, risk management, incident prevention, and emergency preparedness programs.
• Monitor safety performance through audits, inspections, investigations, and reporting, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
• Partner with project leadership and operational teams to foster a proactive safety culture and integrate health and safety objectives into all project activities.

Requirements

Minimum education : Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Safety, and/or relevant experience in the construction mining industry.

Relevant experience : Minimum of 12 years of experience in health and safety management for gold mining construction projects. Additional skills : Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, risk assessment methodologies, incident investigation, contractor management, and safety management systems; proven leadership and coaching abilities; excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Salary Rang e: Negotiable.

Employment Type : Temporary contract for the duration of the construction.

Working Hours : Rotation schedule: 23 of work followed by 19 days off.
