DoD Senior Network Engineer – USAF Base Infrastructure Modernization (BIM)

Hourly Rate: $54–$70/hour DOE (10-99 or FTE Available) Traveling and Lodging Paid (based on experience)

Employment: Contract Clearance: Must hold Secret clearance

Location: Various Locations (CONUS/OCONUS)

Certification: CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) required

Overview

Join a high-impact team supporting the US Air Force Base Infrastructure Modernization (BIM) program. In this role, you will lead the transformation of mission-critical network infrastructure, supporting both NIPR and SIPR environments across Air Force bases. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies while directly contributing to national defense readiness.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead end-to-end network modernization efforts , from site surveys through design, implementation, and sustainment
  • Conduct comprehensive infrastructure assessments and identify modernization opportunities
  • Design and deploy complex wired and wireless Base Area Network (BAN) solutions
  • Support and maintain NIPRNet and SIPRNet environments with high availability and security
  • Serve as the technical lead for troubleshooting critical network issues and outages
  • Translate customer requirements into scalable, secure technical solutions
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance performance and resilience
  • Lead network documentation efforts , including diagrams, configurations, and SOPs
  • Mentor and oversee junior engineers , ensuring high-quality deliverables
  • Participate in technical design reviews and provide expert recommendations

What You Bring

  • CCNP certification (required)
  • Proven experience in enterprise or DoD network engineering environments
  • Strong expertise in routing, switching, network security, and wireless technologies
  • Experience supporting or working within NIPR/SIPR or similarly secure environments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex implementations while maintaining operational continuity
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills in high-pressure environments
  • Experience with network assessment tools, monitoring systems, and documentation best practices
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
