AOH GIRLS HOME – AOH BOYS HOME Location: Grassy Narrows
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Alternative Care Worker – Staff Model Homes is a Full-time ( 36 hours weekly ) position. The Alternative Care Worker – Staff Model Homes is responsible for the daily care, guidance, support and direct supervision of youth residing in a staffed model home. The Alternative Worker – Staff Model Homes ensures the needs of the child are met according to Kitapinoonjiiminaanik Family Services philosophy, First Nation standards, and provincial regulations and standards. The Alternative Worker – Staff Model Homes reports to the Alternative Care Resource Manager.
RESPONSIBILITY
- Model and teach life skills, appropriate social behavior, emotional regulation, problem solving, and respectful communication.
- Be able to workday/night shifts for the Staff Modeled homes.
- Responsible for the direct supervision, safety and well-being of high risk and special needs children.
- Schedule and plan Youth POC meeting.
- Ensure all staff maintain accurate and timely documentation of Youth SMH file.
- Ensure all staff administer and document medications in compliance with training and licensing standards.
- Complete monthly staff schedule, ensure shifts are covered.
- Responsible for weekly chore list, menu planning, assign bi-weekly shopper and meal preparation as required.
- Responsible for observing and report findings to be detailed in a logbook.
- Computer knowledge of Agency software.
- Attend training and team meetings to stay current on all regulatory requirements.
- Transport children/youth to school, appointments, and activities when needed.
- Respond directly to the Alternative Care Resource Manager.
- Provide AOH On-Call on a rotation schedule
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma with one year direct related experience. However, a combination of
skills, education and experience may be considered.
- Possess a valid Class “G” Driver’s License.
- Current First Aid/CPI training would be an asset.
- Provide a Vulnerable Sector Check and Driver’s Abstract prior to employment.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Be able to maintain confidentiality and professional integrity.
- Must be medically fit to work in a staffed home setting with proof of immunization & complete health assessment.
Hours of work: 72/Bi-weekly
Starting Salary: $58,258 - $71,449 (currently under review for 2026)
