What will you do
Career Advisors are responsible for a full suite of services including client needs assessment, employment counselling, facilitation, ongoing case management, client financial supports and services, service referral and follow-up.
This position’s work requirements include a broad range of complex responsibilities including direct client services, computer data entry, financial evaluation, conflict resolution and negotiation, time management and organization. Career Advisors must be able to manage multiple tasks at one time, maintain a high degree of confidentiality, plan and organize strategically, handle ambiguity and resolve challenges.
What we need from you
Education and Certification
- A post-secondary certificate, degree or diploma in a relevant field (e.g., career or employment development, vocational rehabilitation, social work, psychology, sociology, human services, counselling, education or human resource management)
- Specialized Career Advisors for People with Disabilities are recruited and, in addition to the above education requirement, these hires must have a post-secondary certificate, degree or diploma in a relevant field that includes providing services to People with Disabilities
Experience & Skills
- Minimum of three to five years of experience working in career development sector preferred
- Experience working with diverse client populations (i.e. Youth, Indigenous People, People with Disabilities, multi-barriered, varied cultural backgrounds and rural residents)
- Experience developing relationships (e.g., employers, community service organizations, training institutes and other key stakeholders, others)
- Experience assisting clients to source and access external support services, including but not limited to, assistive technology, counselling, health services, advocacy and shelter
- Conducting and interpreting assessments including: client needs, disability-related needs, specialized or clinical assessments
- Coaching and mentoring clients

Salary Range: $26.50-$28.50 pending experience
