Job description

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and proactive Windows Server Administrator with strong experience in Microsoft SQL Server to join our IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining Windows Server environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability, while also supporting SQL Server databases in production and development environments. Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy. Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server databases (2016 and above). Perform routine database backups, restores, index optimization, and performance tuning. Implement security best practices across Windows Servers and SQL environments. Monitor system performance and proactively address potential issues to ensure uptime and reliability. Patch, update, and maintain all Windows-based systems to comply with internal standards. Provide Tier 2/3 support for server and database-related incidents and requests. Collaborate with software development, application support, and business teams for database and server needs. Manage server virtualization (e.g., Hyper-V or VMware) and storage resources. Maintain documentation for systems configuration, processes, and procedures. Participate in on-call support rotations and respond to critical issues outside regular hours as needed. Qualifications & Skills: Required: Proven experience (3+ years) as a Windows Server Administrator. Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (administration, backup/restore, T-SQL, optimization). Proficiency with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policies. Experience with Windows-based scripting (PowerShell preferred). Familiarity with server virtualization technologies (Hyper-V or VMware). Understanding of network protocols and security best practices. Preferred: Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, Azure Administrator Associate). Experience with SQL Server High Availability (AlwaysOn, clustering). Knowledge of Azure or hybrid cloud environments. Experience with System Center tools (SCOM, SCCM). Familiarity with ITIL-based support processes. Requirements Soft Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Excellent verbal and written communication. Ability to work independently and in a team. Strong attention to detail and documentation.
