Job Summary
Summary<br>Responsible for providing direct support and supervision to individuals residing in community-based behavioral health or supportive living programs. The Community Residence Counselor assists residents in developing daily living skills, achieving treatment goals, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment. This role plays a vital part in promoting recovery, independence, and quality of life for individuals with mental health, substance use, or developmental conditions.<br><br>Does this position require Patient Care?<br>Yes<br><br>Essential Functions<br>-Support residents with daily routines, medication reminders, meal preparation, transportation, and personal care as needed. <br>-Monitor resident behavior and provide interventions consistent with treatment or service plans. <br>
-Document observations, progress notes, and incident reports accurately and in a timely manner. <br>
-Assist with the development and implementation of individualized service plans under clinical supervision. <br>
-Promote a respectful, inclusive, and safe living environment aligned with trauma-informed care principles. <br>
-Engage residents in therapeutic, recreational, and community integration activities. <br>
-Respond to crises using de-escalation and safety protocols and report to clinical leadership as appropriate. <br>
-Communicate effectively with care teams, family members, and external providers as needed. <br>
-Participate in team meetings, trainings, and quality assurance activities to support program effectiveness. <br>
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required and Bachelor's Degree Psychology preferred or Bachelor's Degree Social Work preferred or Bachelor's Degree Health & Human Services preferred or Associate's Degree Related Field of Study preferred

Licenses and Credentials
Medication Administration Program Certified [MAP - Massachusetts] - Massachusetts Department of Public Health preferred
Experience
Experience working in a human services, residential, behavioral health, or allied health setting 1-2 years required and Experience working with individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, or developmental disabilities 1-2 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of behavioral health conditions and support strategies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to maintain professional boundaries.
- Ability to manage time, multitask, and respond to urgent needs calmly and effectively.
- Commitment to person-centered care, equity, and cultural competence.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and documentation standards in healthcare or social service environments.
