About the Team:
Our Proposition team oversees the development and execution of the value propositions and go-to-market strategies for our B2B offerings, with a keen focus on clearly articulating the value we bring to customers and how we support their workflows. Proposition owners collaborate closely with Product, Design, Sales, and Marketing stakeholders to coordinate the execution of their offering within their target markets.
About the Role:
Reporting to the SVP and GM, Geopolitical Risk, the VP, GRI Advisory leads our Advisory and Thought Leadership business across both public and private sector markets — owning its strategy, proposition, commercial performance, and external profile. The role combines commercial leadership with operational rigor and a strong external presence, scaling a professional services practice that translates the analytical depth of Dragonfly and Oxford Analytica into high-impact engagements for corporate, government, and multilateral clients.
You Will:
- Design and execute the growth strategy for the GRI Advisory and Thought Leadership business, setting clear commercial, brand, and delivery targets across both public and private sector markets.
- Work with the GRI Head of Sales to ensure the GRI advisory team meets or exceeds sales and growth targets
- Drive the professionalization and scaling of the advisory practice — its operating model, talent, methodologies, and delivery standards.
- Own the business with a relentless focus on margin, utilization, and delivery efficiency across every engagement.
- Design, champion, and continuously evolve the GRI Advisory value proposition, articulating differentiated offerings for public and private sector buyers.
- Serve as a senior external face of the business — representing GRI on stage, on air, and in print to shape how clients and the broader market understand geopolitical and security risk.
- Manage the strategy and roster for deploying other senior GRI leaders and experts for thought leadership engagements; partnering closely with the Dow Jones communications and marketing teams.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Product, and the leadership of Dragonfly and Oxford Analytica to translate analytical capability into commercially successful advisory engagements.
You Have:
- 20+ years of experience in the geopolitical risk, intelligence, or security space.
- A track record of leading an advisory business of $10M+ in revenue with full P&L accountability and proven topline and margin growth.
- Proven experience scaling a professional services business — building delivery models, talent pipelines, and operating discipline that enable durable, profitable growth.
- Experience delivering advisory work for both public sector (government, defense, multilateral) and private sector (corporate, financial) clients.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with key players and competitors in the geopolitical risk space
- An established external profile as a thought leader, with a record of contributions at major conferences, on broadcast and digital media, and in print.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams
- History of successful stakeholder management at executive levels
