Your Role in Our Vision
We’re looking for a commercially minded Special Events Manager to lead, grow and innovate across our highprofile events portfolio including our flagship Brain Game. As part of our awardwinning Philanthropy & Partnerships team, you’ll help deliver more than 10 exclusive events each year, raising vital income and creating exceptional supporter experiences.
We’re looking for a passionate and driven Special Events Manager to lead the delivery of a high-impact events portfolio that raises vital funds and creates memorable supporter experiences.
You’ll take ownership of a diverse programme of events from flagship, high-profile fundraising moments to innovative new initiatives working closely with internal teams, committees and supporters to maximise income and engagement.
At the heart of the role is the delivery of a core programme of flagship events each year, alongside a varied calendar of company-led events. You’ll manage the full event lifecycle, ensuring every experience is delivered to a high standard and achieves strong commercial and engagement outcomes.
Your Impact:
- Generate significant income to support Marie Curie’s vital work (c. £2m+ across events portfolio)
- Deliver a portfolio of high-value fundraising events from concept through to execution
- Manage and track event budgets, ensuring strong return on investment
- Develop and drive income through sponsorship, auctions, and donor engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with event committees, corporates, and key stakeholders
- Lead the end-to-end event experience, ensuring high-quality delivery
- Collaborate across teams to maximise fundraising opportunities and reach
- Research and develop new event ideas and partnerships
- Negotiate with venues and suppliers to achieve best value
- Recruit, brief and manage volunteers supporting events
- Deliver flagship annual events alongside a programme of corporate and third-party events
Key Criteria:
- Has experience delivering events, fundraising initiatives, or complex projects
- Can manage multiple events and priorities simultaneously
- Is confident managing budgets and driving income performance
- Has excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Has experience working with senior stakeholders, committees, or volunteers
- Is highly organised, proactive, and detail-focused
- Is confident using tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Salary: £36,900 - £41,000 plus London Weighting up to £3,500 (where applicable)
Contract: Full time, Perm
Based: Hybrid role in London with 2 days in the office per week
