The Manager, Data Analytics is responsible for leading the development and delivery of advanced analytics, data quality, and reporting solutions to support risk management and regulatory requirements. The role leverages large-scale data, advanced analytics, and emerging technologies to generate actionable insights, improve data quality, and enable consistent, data-driven decision-making across the organization.
The incumbent will manage a team of analytics professionals, deliver scalable analytics solutions, and ensure alignment with enterprise data governance standards and regulatory expectations.
Translate business requirements into technical analytics solutions and scalable data processes.
- Deliver insights and recommendations to support risk monitoring, portfolio analysis, and business strategy.
Data Quality & Governance
Lead data quality initiatives including rule definition, monitoring, issue identification, and remediation.
- Ensure adherence to enterprise data governance frameworks and support regulatory requirements (e.g., model monitoring, reporting accuracy).
- Work closely with data providers and stakeholders to resolve data issues and improve data integrity.
Business & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with business, product, and risk teams to support data-driven decision-making and planning.
- Communicate complex analytical findings clearly to senior stakeholders through reporting and visualization.
- Provide consulting support on analytics, reporting, and data quality challenges.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and coach a team of data analysts and data scientists to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Set clear objectives, monitor performance, and support career development.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture aligned with BMO values and inclusion principles.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to enhance analytics capabilities, automation, and efficiency.
- Evaluate and adopt new tools, technologies, and methodologies to improve analytics and data processing.
- Drive the transition from ad hoc analysis to scalable, production-ready analytics solutions.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Typically 5–7+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, or risk analytics.
- Experience in financial services, risk analytics, or regulatory reporting is highly preferred.
- Post-secondary degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science).

- Data visualization (e.g., Power BI)
- Programming (e.g., Python, SQL, SAS)
- Data wrangling, preprocessing, and ETL processes

- Data quality methodology and governance frameworks
- Experience with risk data and model monitoring platforms

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
