Job Summary

The Accounting Manager position will be responsible for providing accounting support to the Controller and perform any other duties assigned by the Controller. This position will oversee the Accounting Department which manages the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable positions. All aspects of duties are performed in accordance with Sandpearl Resort policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

Generic Essentials

  • Become knowledgeable in all related software systems including InFor (HMS), Agilysys, Book 4 Time, Solomon, and FreedomPay.
  • Strong understanding of Wholesalers, direct billing and group program requirements.
  • Prepare weekly payroll charge tips and gratuity distribution worksheets.
  • Track, research, and respond to chargebacks from guests and outlet customers payments.
  • Responsible for the collections of wholesale account, group accounts, weddings and guest who have check out with balances.
  • Oversee and streamline direct billing procedures.
  • Handle all guest / wholesaler/ group/ members inquiries in a timely professional manner.
  • Assist with various A/P, Income Audit, and General Accounting duties.
  • Maintain and store records of all transactions in accordance with Sandpearl Resort record retention standards, ensuring proper practice of PCI compliance throughout the accounting department, hotel employees, and contracted vendors
  • Ensure proper billing, accuracy and payment for all accounts.
  • Ability to manage individuals professionally and create a positive work environment.

Specific Essentials

  • Daily/weekly/monthly processing of direct bill, wholesalers, groups, third party, T/A commissions and corporate accounts. The aforementioned processes involve advance deposits, billing, collections, disputes and customer service.
  • Answer all inquiries from third party, guests, managers, and corporate within 24 business hours.
  • Prepare package of reports for weekly resume meeting.
  • Keep management aware of any unusual operation or financial occurrences and/or significant deviations from policies and procedures.
  • Maximize productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in finding and implementing solutions.
  • Attend meetings/trainings as required by management.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper attire and nametag when working.
  • Always comply with Sandpearl Resort standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

Education and Experience

  • Previous experience as a department manager.
  • A minimum of 3 years of hospitality related A/R, A/P, wholesalers experience and at least 2 years in an Accounts Receivable position preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office products (word processing, spreadsheet application) and accounting software.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures.
  • College degree (BA., BS., etc.) from four-year College or University preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

  • Customer service oriented, proactive and takes initiative.
  • Extremely organized, detail oriented, fast learner, and someone who follows-through reliably.
  • Accounting: billing, collections, disputes, customer service.
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment while executing superb attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work Monday through Friday 7:30am to 5pm. Must be flexible and able to work overnight or weekend shifts as necessary due to call-offs, month end duties, etc.
  • Must be able to work 48 hours a week.
  • Sedentary work - Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • The best candidate for this excellent opportunity will possess solid organization, communication and analytical skills.

Salary starting at $55,000.
