We are seeking 1 x Female Support Worker for our Supported Living Service in Southport, PR8. (to support a new resident)

Shifts will be Waking Nights - 8pm to 8am x 3 (36hrs pw)

Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role

Who will you be supporting?

  • I am a 46-year-old lady with a learning disability looking to move into my new home. I will have my own separate accommodation within the house and have the option to share the communal area with others who live there.
  • I have a primary diagnosis of learning disability, autism and some mental health challenges. I can make my needs and wishes known. I require support with personal care, medication administration, cooking, cleaning, paying bills and organising my days.
  • Staff need to have training in medication and be familiar with the PBS approach to supporting behaviour that may challenge, you need to be good at giving lots of emotional support

What is important to me?

I really want to be more independent but will need lots of time and patience to build relationships

I love Harry potter and drawing and colouring. I also has a lot of teddies and dolls that I'm very fond of and I love Disney films. I used to be a lot more active and enjoyed, walking and horse riding

I need a lot of stimulation.

  • not giving too many demands,
  • giving time to process information before expecting a response,
  • recognising environment that are too noisy or crowded,
  • offering activities that stimulate my senses in a planned way so as not to overwhelm

Other Important Information?

  • I will have my own staff team during the day for example 8am-10pm and waking night. There is a sleep in staff member in the main house
  • Staff work 12hrs shifts including weekends and waking nights
  • We need female staff that are friendly, approachable, trustworthy, willing to be flexible, adaptable, skilled to support me.
