Job description
At IRIUM we want you to always chase your dreams. Here, prepare yourself to conquer your goals, while enjoying the journey.
We are currently looking for: IT Risk / EUDA Governance Specialist (Python & Data)
Requirements
About the Role
Within our banking environment, many business areas develop their own solutions — ranging from Excel spreadsheets with macros to Python scripts — to support critical processes such as calculations, reporting, and decision-making.
These solutions (EUDAs – End User Developed Applications) are essential to the business, but they also introduce operational, data quality, and regulatory compliance risks.
We are strengthening our team with a professional who can help ensure that these solutions are:
- Reliable
- Controlled
- Auditable
- Aligned with regulatory requirements such as DORA
This is not purely a technical role — it is a governance, risk assessment, and business-facing position.
What You Will Do
- Identify and map critical EUDAs across different areas of the bank
- Assess risk and criticality (financial, operational, and regulatory)
- Review solutions developed in Python, Excel, and other end-user tools
- Define and implement risk-based controls without unnecessarily hindering business operations
- Promote and enforce best practices in:
- Data management
- Version control
- Documentation
- Auditability
- Collaborate with business, IT, risk, and audit teams
- Prepare evidence and supporting documentation for internal and external audits
A key aspect of this role is balancing control with pragmatism.
What We Are Looking For
Technical Foundation
- Experience with Python (data processing, automation, and analytics scripts)
- Comfort working with data and databases (SQL or equivalent)
- Advanced Excel skills (formulas and macros are a plus)
More Important Than Technical Skills
We are looking for someone who demonstrates
- Risk-oriented critical thinking
- The ability to distinguish what is truly critical from what is not
- Pragmatism and a practical mindset
- The ability to work effectively with non-technical business stakeholders
- Strong communication and influencing skills
Nice to Have
- Experience in regulated environments (banking, insurance, consulting, etc.)
- Exposure to audit, internal controls, or risk management functions
- Experience with governance frameworks (formal or informal)
- Knowledge of DORA or operational resilience topics
What This Role Is NOT
- It is not a pure software development position
- It is not a full-time Excel maintenance role
- It is not a detached audit function disconnected from business reality
This is a cross-functional role where you will help make the bank more resilient without disrupting what already works effectively.
What We Offer
- Exposure to critical banking processes
- Close collaboration with business, IT, and risk teams
- A role with direct impact on operational resilience and regulatory compliance
- A pragmatic, execution-focused environment
Who This Role Is For
- You have worked with data, models, or automation outside traditional IT environments
- You enjoy understanding how things work in practice, not just on paper
- You have a critical mindset and are comfortable challenging assumptions
- You know when to dive deeper and when to keep things simple
One-Line Summary
Help the bank manage risk in business-developed solutions without breaking what already works.
