Job Duties: The primary duties of this position are the supervision of juvenile offenders under the jurisdiction of the District Court and the preparation of detailed reports for the court.

Work involves supervision of a general assignment caseload or other specific caseload as directed by the Department’s CSO III. The person in this position will be required to prepare presentence investigation reports and other court reports as requested; supervise completion of Court ordered conditions; verify collection of restitution and costs; maintain contact with outside agencies and the public; perform field visits, home studies and child welfare visits; utilize required case management system to compile information and log case contacts; comply with requirements of all mandated state and local policies and procedures; and perform any additional duties as required by the CSOIII, Chief CSO or the Court.

Depending on assigned department, certification in YLS, EPICS, WRNA, LSCMI and/or Mediation must be obtained within 12 months, and those certifications maintained while employed. All training is provided.

Required Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in corrections, criminology, counseling, psychology, sociology, or a closely related field. All applicants are subject to a name-based criminal history background check. Must have a valid driver's license and access to legal means of transportation for field visits. If employed by Court Services, the new employee must pass a fingerprint-based background check within the first 30 days of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of the juvenile justice and child welfare fields.
  • Experience in caseload management.
  • Ability to multitask and have excellent time management skills
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in use of current computer programs and technology
  • Professional, courteous and cooperative in demeanor
