Position Summary AGAT Laboratories is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Safety Administrator to join our Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) team in Calgary.
The successful candidate will support with COR program and ISO 45001 requirements, contractor compliance platforms, audits, training programs, and regulatory compliance initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career safety professional to gain hands-on experience and build a career in occupational health and safety.
What you will be doing
- Safety Management Systems & Compliance
- Support the administration and continuous improvement of AGAT’s HSE Management System.
- Oversee implementation of ISO 45001 compliance, document control, audits, corrective actions, and maintenance of HSE policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- COR & Contractor Compliance Programs
- Assist with COR program administration, audit preparation, corrective action tracking, and annual maintenance activities.
- Manage contractor prequalification and compliance platforms (Avetta, ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, and client-specific systems) to maintain approved contractor status and meet client requirements.
- Audits, Inspections & Regulatory Compliance
- Coordinate internal and external audits, inspections, and client safety reviews.
- Maintain audit schedules and documentation; and track findings, corrective actions, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Training, Records & Reporting
- Maintain employee training records, competency matrices, certifications, and compliance deadlines.
- Coordinate onboarding and orientation requirements and generate HSE training and compliance reports.
- Incident & Risk Management
- Support incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, hazard assessment processes, and corrective action implementation.
- Track safety performance metrics and maintain risk management documentation.
What you bring to the table
- 1-3 years of experience in a safety, compliance, quality, or administrative role.
- Experience supporting COR programs and/or ISO management systems is considered a strong asset.
- Experience with Avetta, ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, ContractorCheck, or similar contractor compliance platforms is highly desirable.
- Experience in laboratory, industrial, environmental, energy, or field-services environments is an asset.
- Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of health and safety management systems.
- Knowledge of Alberta occupational health and safety legislation.
- Excellent organizational and project coordination skills.
- Strong attention to detail and document control practices.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience with SharePoint, Power BI, or HSE management software is considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Why Join Us?
