SHIPPING/RECEIVING CLERK (Selma, CA)

Location: 7736 E. Springfield Ave., Selma, CA 93662 Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (overtime as needed) scheduled hours may vary Days: Monday – Friday (Saturdays as needed) Position: Hourly – $18.00 Per Hour Payroll: Bi-weekly

Job Summary

Responsible for receiving and shipping materials between warehouses and customers while performing duties to support the direct labor operations of the shipping department, including palletizing materials for shipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Load and unload trucks using a forklift.
  • Assemble and palletize crates and shipping supplies.
  • Pick and assemble customer orders from stock area, packing stations, and shipping department.
  • Prepare materials for shipping with proper markings and documentation.
  • Enter all shipping information into the system.
  • Verify weights and counts for distribution per company standards.
  • Maintain accurate counts, labels, and inventory of shipped castings or products.
  • Move materials to and from receiving, production, and shipping areas.
  • Maintain organization and structure of inventory areas.
  • Fill and distribute requisitions, work orders, and material requests to production employees and the assembly line.
  • Maintain general housekeeping in shipping/receiving areas, including sweeping, box breakdown, and material handling.
  • Palletize outgoing shipments and ensure they are properly wrapped, labeled, and staged.
  • Communicate with supervisors and team members regarding standard work process issues or concerns.
  • Complete all safety training and adhere to company safety and environmental policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a shipping/receiving environment (manufacturing) preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to enter shipping data accurately.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to adapt to schedule changes.

  • Standing: Frequent to continuous
  • Walking: Occasional to frequent
  • Bending/Stooping/Squatting/Kneeling: Occasional to frequent
  • Gripping/Manipulation: Frequent
  • Lifting and Carrying: Up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist (more with assistance)

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a noisy industrial manufacturing environment and may include both indoor and outdoor work. Employees are regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy machinery, equipment, tools, vibration, dust, and varying weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud, requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Employees must be able to safely work around operating equipment and comply with all company safety policies and procedures.

Personal Protective Equipment and Safety

Employees must wear approved PPE at all times, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed (steel or composite toe) shoes. Hard hats must be worn when applicable. Seatbelts must be worn when operating forklifts. Compliance with all safety protocols is required.
