Feeser’s Food Distributors is a family owned and operated full-line foodservice distributor located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania servicing the Mid-Atlantic region.
Feeser’s provides an expansive offering of dry, refrigerated, and frozen products to a diverse customer base comprised of restaurants, healthcare facilities, educational facilities, and other institutions.
We are currently seeking an Operations Manager for our Evening operations.
The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of the warehouse with particular emphasis on the management of the warehouse personnel and outbound distribution operations. The tracking and recording of equipment, assurance that equipment maintenance schedules are followed, and employee meetings are conducted.
This is an onsite position in Harrisburg, PA
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•
Develops a strategic plan to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of the facility.
•
Ensures efficient shipping work schedules to meet operational goals.
•
Directs the operations of the warehouse supervisors and warehouse personnel.
•
Audits compliance of both internal and external Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
•
Ensures that equipment is utilized in the most efficient manner.
•
Reviews the daily work objective and determines productivity requirements during the shift to meet the overall operational objectives with no late load outs.
•
Partners with other leaders to balance labor, ensuring appropriate levels of staffing for daily workload.
•
Matches the skill and background of personnel to work required.
•
Conducts analysis of workload compared to labor hours and equipment.
•
Plans long-term labor needs based on sales, forecasts, and historical data.
•
Makes regular recommendations to senior leadership team on programs to improve warehouse operations using lean manufacturing principles with a continuous improvement mindset.
FINANCIALS
•
Understands how day to day decisions impact financial outcomes.
•
Own financial aspects of the business including, but not limited to, budgeting, forecasting, reading GL, Flash, and P&L reporting
•
Run productivity and labor reports to analyze gaps in performance, holding employees accountable through combination of coaching, counseling, and corrective actions.
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS & DEVELOPMENT
•
Ensures the daily pre-shift meetings cover previous productivity, operational challenges, forecasting workload and any other pertinent company information.
•
Ensures proper staffing and supports hiring for all facility operations.
•
Ensures all new employees are properly onboarded; completing required documentation and following a structured training schedule.
•
Produces and effectively communicates department goals and individual performance goals that ensure the facility achieves operational success.
•
Manages and maintains good human resources practices with direct reports, and adherence to established company and department policies and procedures.
•
Works with the shift Operations Manager and Human Resources to resolve employee relation issues, discipline actions, problem resolution and terminations. Escalates to senior leadership, as necessary.
•
Provides feedback, coaching, guidance, and recognition to enhance other’s skill development.
•
Plays an active role in employee development and talent selection.
•
Acts as a role model for the department in support of corporate mission, vision, and values
•
Provides regular coaching and feedback on performance. Prepares and presents formal performance appraisals and makes recommendations.
•
Proposes annual compensation increases based on performance.
•
Conducts regular and routine documented observations.
•
Exhibits a commitment to self-development by staying current on information, tools, and systems through a combination of trade materials, books, and other resources as required.
SAFETY AND SECURITY
•
Ensures the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the warehouse, meeting required service standards.
•
Actively supports and participates in all safety initiatives in the facility, focusing on both leading and trailing indicators to drive the most positive impact to safety results for the company.
•
Implements safety and sanitation schedules that ensure the facilities compliance with company, OSHA, FDA, USDA, Department of Agriculture, AIB or ASI standards.
•
Performs documented safety observations to coach employees on safety procedures.
•
Implements the necessary improvements to the current procedures and facility, to prevent re-occurring accidents, injuries, or near misses.
•
Prevents associate incident and injury by overseeing accident investigations, assessing root cause analysis, and implementing necessary improvements.
•
Collaborate with safety manager and safety department on improvements to safety.
•
Responsible for the management of equipment and coordinates the maintenance of equipment with internal maintenance department and/or local vendor(s), as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
•
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, or related field preferred.
•
5+ years of supervisory experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
•
Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (Oracle or equivalent preferred).
•
Experienced in positive employee relations with teams of fifty or more employees.
•
Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing or other continuous improvement fundamentals preferred.
SKILLS REQUIRED
•
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
•
Working knowledge of warehouse/ mechanical equipment.
•
Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT, FDA regulations, and the willingness to become certified in one or more of these areas, as necessary.
•
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
•
Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgement in stressful situations.
•
Experience with or desire to learn performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean/Six Sigma tools.
•
Excellent talent management and team building skills.
•
Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
•
Excellent customer service skills, specifically with external clients.
•
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
•
Ability and availability to work irregular and extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the operation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•
Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
•
Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift equipment up to 100 pounds.
•
Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
•
Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
•
Noisy Environnements / Hazardous conditions
•
Must possess visual acuity, i.e., close, distance, and color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust.
•
Ability to work in temperature varied environments for extended periods of time, ranging from -10 degrees F to 90 degrees F, and handle the demands of the departments.
