About the Position

Harris Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse III (Nurse Clinician III) to join the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) team at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital for full-time night shifts .

In this advanced nursing role, you will provide high-level patient care while demonstrating clinical leadership, critical thinking, and specialized nursing expertise . The Nurse Clinician III independently manages complex patient cases, applies evidence-based clinical practices, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, compassionate, and effective patient care in a critical care environment.

This role also requires leadership experience and active participation in professional nursing development initiatives.

Requirements

  • Education :
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • BSN preferred
  • Licensure/Certification :
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA or Red Cross approved program
  • Specialty nursing certification required
  • Experience :
  • Minimum of 3 years RN experience
  • Minimum of 1 year clinical leadership experience meeting at least 2 leadership criteria such as:
  • Preceptor
  • Charge Nurse
  • Mentor
  • Certification
  • QI Champion
  • CoP Chair
  • Clinical Leadership :
  • Demonstrated leadership in a professional nursing practice environment
  • Portfolio/resume/performance review reflecting clinical leadership
  • Communication Skills :
  • Above Average Verbal (heavy public contact)
  • Strong written communication
  • Bilingual skills preferred
  • Ability to accurately communicate clinical information in English
