Job description

Job description: Are you an A-Level or B-Level Automotive Technician tired of the stress of straight flat-rate, but still want to be rewarded for your speed and production?

AAMCO Milwaukie is seeking a top-tier Auto Mechanic / Automotive Technician to join our high-volume service center. We are a comprehensive car repair facility handling full-service engine repairs, advanced drivability issues, and general total car care.

Crucially: This position does NOT require transmission rebuilding experience. We handle the internal bench-work. We need a master of vehicle systems who takes pride in diagnostic accuracy and quality heavy-line repairs. We are highly interested in service technicians with a strong background in engine rebuilding, timing chains, and engine diagnostics.

The Best Pay Model in the Industry: We offer a highly attractive Hybrid Pay Structure. You get the absolute peace of mind of a high guaranteed hourly base rate, combined with a production bonus or flag-hour multiplier that rewards you for turning massive hours.

  • B-Level Tech Target: $28.00 – $36.00 /hr base (plus production bonuses).
  • A-Level / Master Tech Target: $36.00 – $48.00+ /hr base (plus production bonuses). What’s In It For You:
  • True Financial Security: High guaranteed hourly base + uncapped production bonuses.
  • Real Work-Life Balance: Enjoy consistent, reliable daytime hours with NO weekends.
  • Top-Tier Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off (PTO), paid holidays, and employer-matched 401(k).
  • Advanced Support: Access to corporate live technician hotlines for instantaneous troubleshooting.
  • Paid Training: We cover the cost of training modules and your ongoing ASE certifications. What You’ll Do:
  • Lead Diagnostics: Utilize advanced scanning tools to identify mechanical and drivability issues on a broad variety of domestic and foreign makes.
  • Engine & Heavy Repair: Execute engine swaps, timing chains, head gaskets, and full vehicle inspections.
  • Drivetrain & R&I: Remove and install automatic, manual, and CVT transmissions smoothly and accurately.
  • Maintain Flow: Help guide B and C level car mechanics when complex physical repairs require collaboration.
  • Customer Trust: Work alongside our service writers to document precise diagnoses for accurate estimates. Qualifications:
  • Experience: 5+ years of professional automotive repair experience (Independent shop or Dealership).
  • Skill Profile: Strong diagnostic capability and heavy mechanical repair skills (Engine repair background highly preferred).
  • Certifications: Active ASE Certifications are heavily favored (ASE Master Tech status earns top-tier pay).
  • Tooling: Ownership of a professional-grade toolset to independently tackle high-level repairs.
  • Driving: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Join a shop where quality workmanship and professional development are top priorities. Apply today to join our team in the Greater Portland area! Job Type: Full-time Benefits:
