JOB SUMMARY
Plan, organize, and conduct training sessions to provide a safe and hazard free work environment. Performs other tasks as assigned. Provides leadership for plant security.
ESSENTAIL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform duties of Safety / Security Officer
- Conduct training for all new safety / security and Contract Security personnel in all phases of the job.
- Update / create inspection forms and logs as needed
- Provide Leadership and verify Security duties, e.g. inspections, patrols, etc. are being conducted.
- Maintain, service and schedule service for all fire protection (CO2 system, Dry system, Sprinklers, Fire Extinguishers, etc)
- Coordinate emergency drills and evacuation procedures
- Coordinate training for Emergency Response Team e.g. Confined space rescue, Self-contained breathing apparatus, Hazwoper, Medical Emergencies, Evacuation and others as needed.
- Provide leadership during emergency situations
- Assist Training and Development Supervisor as needed when training in Safety/Security and Emergency Procedure related classes.
- Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with local law enforcement and fire department
- Regular attendance required
Performs other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous manner.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
- Knowledge of Safety/Security standards applicable to the Security Area and other pertinent rules/regulations governing work standards.
- Knowledge of OSHA and NFPA regulations.
- Basic working knowledge of computers to sufficiently utilize word processors, spreadsheets, and email.
- Knowledge of all Security/Safety related equipment, rules/regulations, policies, procedures and other topics related to training personnel.
- Ability to communicate well in an oral and written manner at all levels of the organization.
- Skills in public speaking and managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to work flexible hours with little or no notice due to the nature of the job.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
High School Graduate or GED
EXPERIENCE
5+ years of Safety/Security experience
WORKING CONDITIONS
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Heavy work. Tasks involves pushing / pulling, lifting, and handling material up to 100 pounds plus standing and walking during a minimum eight hour shift. Requires occasional climbing (high work).
ENVIRONMENT
Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness. Examples: engineering, waste mgt, laundry workers and yards/grounds staff
