SUMMARY

The Construction Project Engineer (CPE) p rovide s project management and administrative support on one ( or more ) projects . The CPE performs daily and /or weekly site inspections for safety and quality purposes and writes required daily and /or weekly reports based on inspections . They will a ssist in scope writing, bid solicitations , pre construction meetings walk t h roughs, and post bid interviews. The Project Engineer compiles and distributes progress meeting agendas and minutes . The C PE receives, review s and distribute s submittals, shop drawings, and keep s accurate and updated construction documents . This position a ssist s Project Managers and Construction Manager in collecting and organizing pricing for CCD’s.

This position reports to assigned Senior Project Manager and is a full time FLSA exempt p osition. This position requires 40 work hours per week with the ability to work more if required . This position requires daily travel to one or more job sites located within the Southwest Michigan region.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pre-Construction Activities
  • Understand customer specific requirements and assist in preparing pre - construction analysis during project Design & Development.
  • Develop s scope specif ication documents and organizes all related files for future work us e including design elements and implementation procedures.
  • Creat e s and updat e s project schedules , phasing plans, and site logistics .
  • Creat e s and monitor s project submittal logs.
  • Responsible for review, input, and distribution of bidder’s requests for information (BRFI’s) .
  • Solicit proposals/bids from subcontractors and vendors for outsourced projects.
  • Conduct s pre-bid walkthroughs.
  • Construction Activities
  • Attend project meetings; track project progress and provide weekly status updates.
  • Coordinate work with customers and subcontractors; provide oversight and direction.
  • Prepare s building permit applications and submit s to municipality (if applicable) .
  • Review s and input s all con tractor submittal documents sent to architect and return s the reviewed documents to trade contractor before beginning work on site.
  • Reviews shop drawings and send s to architect and return s to trade contractor upon review.
  • Keep s track of work hours, materials, equipment, and work progress through daily progress reports.
  • Compiles the Project Manager’s w eekly r eports in project management software.
  • Review s and input s RFI’s send to architect for review and return to trade contractor upon review.
  • Compiles and submit s CCDs as required .
  • Participates in progress meetings by preparing meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Attend s owner progress meetings.
  • Keep s updated red line drawing set and project documentation.
  • Safety Inspections
  • Ensures site safety through review of procedure documents such as Safe Plans of Action (SPA).
  • Addresses critical safety concerns arising in the work field.
  • Issues hot work permits and checking hot work task areas for possible flammables and other altercations.
  • Performs safety observation reports (SORs), hygienic construction site reviews, safety inspection checklists.
  • Performs tool and equipment inspection checks.
  • Ensures abidance to owner safety rules and regulations.
  • Schedules and coordinates reoccurring safety meetings.
  • Determines and implements a corrective action plan when necessary
  • Quality Inspections
  • Perform s hygienic construction site reviews.
  • Administer s product quality inspections and addressing areas of concern.
  • Performs material equipment and craftsmanship inspections.
  • Ensures abidance to owner requirements.
  • Addresses owner’s concerns and implements corrective solution.
  • Post Construction Activities
  • Attends post bid interviews.
  • Compile s all required inspections for building occupancy.
  • Compile s required project closeout documentation.
  • Create s , distributes, and complete s project punch list with owner, architect and trades.
  • Schedule s and track s owner training.
  • Manage s warranty items

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management , Project Management or Engineering ; or years of equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (outlook, word, excel, MS P roject, power point etc.)
  • Must be familiar with estimating concepts and ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Self-motivated team player with mechanical aptitude.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly articulate ideas both verbally and in written communication.
  • Demonstrate ability to be productive, positive, and proactive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to see the overall requirements of client satisfaction without losing sight of details.
