Pay: $21-26 an hour

Martin Marietta is currently looking for a Surface Heavy Equipment Operator/Weighmaster at Onaga Quarry located in Onaga, Kansas. This position is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment to move material within the plant.

Essential Functions

Participate in safety programs and training, promoting Martin Marietta’s Guardian Angel culture
Inspect equipment for signs of wear
Perform basic maintenance on heavy mobile equipment
Work in a team environment
Clean work areas
Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
Proper wear of personal protective equipment
Notify supervisors of repairs needed
Ensure materials are properly loaded according to safety requirements
Assist in plant maintenance and repairs
Perform duties with minimum supervision
Issue weight and product tickets at the scale house
Work with trucking vendors to schedule and direct trucks
Communicate with truck drivers to determine destination and material transported.
Work closely with others in the department to ensure accuracy of tickets and delivery orders
Professionally accept incoming orders by telephone, email, and any other means and utilize internal systems to accurately process these orders.
Research problem tickets and proper document findings
Provide a high level of customer service that reflects company values.
Performs other incidental and related duties as required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position and will require 40+ hours per week.

Preferred Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent
Must have a valid driver's license
Heavy equipment operations or military experience preferred
1 + years related experience
Valid US driver's license

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to work with minimal supervision
Knowledge of MSHA regulations
Effective verbal communication
Knowledge of machines and tools including their design, use and maintenance

Physical Abilities

Ability to work in an outdoor environment year-round
General physical activities include climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, reaching with hands and arms, and handling materials
