Job description
This role exists to make sure Hungry Lion's Non-Conformance Product (NCP) claims process works the way it should. You'll manage the NCP app, support stores in logging claims correctly, and verify that every submission has the right documentation behind it because an incomplete or incorrectly logged claim is a rejected claim.
The detail is the job. A wrong batch number, a missing photo, or an incorrect category means the claim fails. If you're someone who catches those things before they become problems and follows up until they're fixed, you'll be exactly right for this.
WHAT THE JOB ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE
- Managing the NCP app daily and verifying that stores log claims in the correct category such as damaged stock, short deliveries, and undersized pieces each follow a different process.
- Checking that batch numbers on claims match the physical label on the stock, not the invoice number; this single error is one of the most common reasons supplier claims get rejected
- Monitoring weight compliance for products like Mini Fillets and Chicken Fingers, where photographic proof is required as part of the claim.
- Tracking claims through to authorisation and making sure stores submit proof of disposal certificates before supplier credit is finalised.
- Following up with stores when documentation is missing, incorrect, or overdue.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Basic computer literacy and competence in Google Suite.
- Good communication across email, phone, and chat because you'll be in regular contact with stores.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- An administrative certificate is preferred, but we'll train the right person.
WHAT YOU GET
- A role where your accuracy directly protects the business because the work has real, measurable impact.
- Exposure to supplier management and supply chain processes across a large store network.
- A team that will invest in teaching you the full NCP process properly from day one.
WHO WE ARE Hungry Lion opened its first store in Stellenbosch in 1997. One store, one idea: great food, served with energy and genuine warmth. Today that idea runs across more than 500 stores in multiple African countries and we're still growing. Innovation is part of how we compete — from the way we use AI and technology to run smarter operations, to the way we back our people to think differently and solve real problems. Whether you're on the floor, in the kitchen, or behind the scenes at HQ, every person here shapes what this brand becomes. The best of Hungry Lion is still ahead and we're looking for people who want to be part of building it.
