We are looking for a reliable, high-energy Automotive Service Porter to join our fast-paced team and help keep our service drive and lot running smoothly.
Position Overview
As a Service Porter, you will be the face of our service department, providing the crucial first impression when customers arrive. You will serve as the liaison between the customer, Service Advisors, and the technicians. Your primary responsibilities include managing the flow of vehicles in the service lane, safely parking and retrieving customer cars, and ensuring the service drive is clean, organized, and welcoming.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Greeting & Assistance: Greet customers warmly as they arrive at the service drive, direct them to a Service Advisor, and assist with retrieving or returning their vehicles.
- Vehicle Logistics: Safely move and park customer cars and loaner vehicles in designated service stalls and parking lots.
- Vehicle Prep & Protection: Install disposable protective coverings (floor mats, seat covers) in customer vehicles and tag them accordingly upon arrival.
- Lot & Service Drive Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the service lane and parking lot. (This includes light custodial duties such as picking up trash, sweeping, and assisting with snow/ice removal during Ohio winters).
- Department Support: Assist the Service Advisors and Technicians with miscellaneous tasks, such as running service parts, retrieving keys, and basic vehicle inspections.
- Vehicle Maintenance Assistance: Perform light maintenance tasks on lot vehicles, such as testing and charging batteries, topping off vehicle fluids, and maintaining tire pressure.
- Customer Shuttle: Provide backup shuttle driving for customers who need transportation while their car is in the shop.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Driver's License: Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license.
- Clean Driving Record: A very good driving record that is acceptable to our insurance provider.
- Manual Transmission: Ability to comfortably drive and maneuver both automatic and standard (manual) transmission vehicles.
- Physical Stamina: Able to work on your feet, walk, bend, kneel, and work outdoors in all types of Ohio weather conditions.
- Customer Service Oriented: Outgoing, friendly, and dependable with excellent communication skills.
- Reliability: Trustworthy, punctual, and highly responsible when handling high-value company and customer property.
