Summary of Position
The CDL-A Driver is responsible to deliver and pick up food to ensure successful continuation of the food supply chain activities of the Food Bank of South Jersey. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods while maintaining full compliance with all DOT regulations.
Position Responsibilities
- Operate commercial vehicles in accordance with DOT and company safety standards.
- Comply with all DOT standards.
- Knowledge of DOT safety regulations and procedures.
- Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening.
- Stage orders for delivery at designated locations.
- Contribute with other staff members to maintain the orderliness of all locations where product is stored and stages
- Offload product in a safe manner.
- Identify spoiled product and notify management at pickup location
- At the end of the shift, communicate the work completed (and not completed)
- Engage with all levels of FB staff
- Operate forklift when assigned
- Operate other FB equipment as assigned
- Immediately report performance issues observed/experienced with any type of FB vehicle or truck
- Immediately report any deficiency that prevents safe utilization of the CDL or regular driver’s license when applicable.
- Assist with duties of order puller as required in order to fulfill the plan of the day (POD)
- Responsibilities include assisting with the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility and vehicles as directed by management.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience and Skills
- At least five (5) years of CDL-A driving experience preferred
- Valid CDL Class A license
- Clean driving record in accordance with DOT standards.
- Knowledge of DOT safety regulations and procedures.
- Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Eligible for forklift certification
- Able to successfully complete and achieve passing grades for required food safety training
- Strong communication skills
- Able to read and comprehend printed fulfillment documents

This position is classified as a safety-sensitive position and is subject to applicable U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
