Optical Engineering Intern – Aerospace Lighting Systems (Summer 2026)

Job Overview: We are seeking a motivated Optical Engineering Intern to support the development of aircraft lighting systems. This internship is ideal for a Physics student interested in optics, light measurement, aerospace technology, and product development.

The intern will work with experienced engineers on aircraft interior and exterior lighting products, including landing lights, navigation lights, anti-collision lights, cabin lighting, and illuminated signs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with optical testing and evaluation of aviation lighting products.
  • Collect and analyze laboratory test data.
  • Support light output, color, and beam pattern measurements.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering reports and documentation.
  • Participate in product development and design review meetings.
  • Work with optical, electrical, mechanical, and certification engineers on development projects.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in physics or a related scientific field.
  • Basic understanding of optics and physics principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in optics, photonics, aerospace, or lighting technology.
  • Experience with laboratory coursework or scientific experiments.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Excel, MATLAB, or Python.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing is beneficial.
