Environmental Services/Housekeepeing Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY
The Environmental Services Supervisor is a working leader responsible for directing and participating in daily housekeeping, floor care, and laundry operations. Incumbent ensures all resident areas, common spaces, and support areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and welcoming condition. The Supervisor trains and supports team members, conducts inspections, and ensure departmental standards and infection-control procedures are consistently met.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Leads and participates in daily housekeeping, floor care and laundry activities to maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized community
- Leads the team; assigns work, and schedules and may approve PTO and timecards ensuring coverage, productivity and timely completion of tasks
- Trains and mentors the team in cleaning techniques, infection control, resident interaction, and safety protocols
- Provides immediate corrective guidance when performance, safety, or conduct issues arise.
- Conducts routine inspections and audits to ensure quality standards are maintained
- Maintains supplies of cleaning equipment and materials
- May assist with record-keeping including logging laundry and other supplies and equipment
- Documents and maintains appropriate logs and records in a timely and accurate fashion
- Complies with, and assists with, infection control, hazardous waste removal, and other safety precautions, guidelines and policies
- May coordinate and assist with special projects including laundry and environmental services tasks
- May set up and break down furniture and equipment for special events and activities
- May assist in trash removal and sanitation for assigned areas
WORKING HOURS
Working hours may include nights, weekends, holidays, early mornings and the ability to work and assist in inclement weather or other unforeseen events
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to be able to read, write, and follow written and verbal directions
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Competent in basic computer use (scheduling, timecards, corrective actions, inventory tracking)
- Minimum two years of experience in housekeeping or environmental services; prior supervisory experience preferred
- Possess a good sense of responsibility, reliability, professionalism, and attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and work well with others
- May be required to drive a car or golf cart; valid driver's license may be required
Physical Demands
- Lifting: Up to 50 pounds.
- Carrying: Up to 20 pounds.
- Pushing/Pulling: Up to 50 pounds.
