Job description

Position Summary

We are currently seeking an Associate Mechanic at our Salisbury, NC shop. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Shop Operations, the Associate Mechanic is responsible for safely performing disassembly and assembly steps as part of our rock crusher remanufacture and repair processes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a high level of safety and ensure that the team maintains a safety-first culture
  • Disassembling crusher subassemblies using hand tools and power tools (electric, pneumatic, battery and hydraulic)
  • Powerwashing and sandblasting components to perform inspections
  • Using common metrology equipment to distinguish focused areas needing further attention such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges and feeler gauges.
  • Utilizing both paper and electronic parts books and operation manuals to order parts that need replacement
  • Using torches, plasma cutters, saws, lancing and air arcing equipment to remove material
  • Using hydraulic rams to push and pull pieces in and out of place
  • Ensuring completion of quality control documentation in both the pre-inspection and final inspection categories
  • Performing shrink fit operations using liquid nitrogen, dry ice, rosebuds, induction and oil baths
  • Torquing bolts using hydraulic wrenches, lithium torque wrenches, torque multipliers and hand torque wrenches
  • Setting clearances on bearings and gears
  • Completing task training on all overhead cranes, forklifts, sweepers, manlift, scissor lifts, welders and torches within 90 days of hire
  • Completing OSHA forklift classroom and hands on evaluation within the first 30 days of hire.
  • Using 5S methodology in conjunction with the floor sweeper to maintain a clean and safe workplace
  • Extending total life expectancy of assets by learning PM procedures for all equipment utilized and remanufactured by the mechanic group
  • Reporting damaged tools and tagging out of service so that they can be replaced

Requirements

  • The candidate must believe and practice safety as the number one priority
  • Associates degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Welding, Machining or Engineering preferred.andnbsp; Relevant work experience could be a substitute.
  • Experience with heavy equipment repair.
  • Experience operating tools and heavy equipment.
  • Experience with gas torches, induction rope and welding processes a plus
  • Must be a self-motivated, strong work ethic individual that is willing to work with minimal supervision and at high level of accountability to operational requirements
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to report and transfer information required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. will be required
