Position Title : Tax Manager – Corporate Tax Compliance Location : Atlanta, GA Salary : $120,000 – $140,000 Industry : Retail / Wholesale – Corporate Category : Finance / Accounting – Taxation
About the Role We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Manager to join a growing corporate finance team within the Retail/Wholesale industry. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in federal and state income tax compliance, consolidated tax filings, audit defense, and multi-state tax regulations. This role requires a hands-on professional who can independently manage complex tax compliance functions while partnering closely with finance and leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage federal and multi-state income tax compliance processes for corporate entities. Prepare and review consolidated federal and state tax returns, including unitary and combined filings. Ensure compliance with state-specific tax regulations, including throwback rules, apportionment, and nexus considerations. Lead tax provision calculations and assist with ASC 740 reporting requirements. Research and interpret federal and state tax laws and assess impact on the organization. Support and defend company tax positions during federal and state tax audits. Collaborate with accounting and finance teams to ensure accurate tax reporting and documentation. Identify tax-saving opportunities and process improvements to enhance compliance efficiency. Maintain accurate tax records and ensure timely filing of all required returns. Assist with tax planning initiatives and special projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 7+ years of experience in corporate income tax compliance. Strong knowledge of federal and state income tax regulations. Experience handling complex consolidated and unitary tax return filings. Expertise in multi-state taxation, combined reporting, and throwback rules. Prior experience supporting or defending tax positions during audits. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications CPA certification preferred. Experience in Retail, Wholesale, or Corporate industry environments is highly preferred. Familiarity with tax software and ERP systems.
