Job description

Job Summary

We are looking for a dependable Facility Waste & Material Handler to keep our cabinet manufacturing facility clean, organized, and running smoothly. This role is responsible for managing dumpsters, unloading delivery trucks, handling trash removal, and breaking down/baling cardboard throughout the facility. This is a physically active, hands-on position that plays a key part in keeping our production floor safe and efficient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Empty trash and recycling bins throughout the production floor, offices, and break areas on a regular schedule
  • Monitor and empty dumpsters as needed to prevent overflow
  • Unload incoming delivery trucks (materials, supplies, hardware, lumber, etc.) when they arrive
  • Break down cardboard boxes and packaging material from incoming shipments
  • Operate a cardboard baler (training provided) and manage baled cardboard for recycling pickup
  • Sort and separate recyclable materials (cardboard, wood scrap, metal, etc.) from general trash
  • Sweep, clean, and maintain general housekeeping in production and warehouse areas
  • Use pallet jacks, hand trucks, or forklifts (if certified) to move materials and bins
  • Coordinate with waste/recycling vendors for pickup scheduling
  • Report any safety hazards, equipment issues, or overflow problems to supervisor
  • Assist other departments with general labor tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • Previous warehouse, janitorial, or material handling experience preferred (not required)
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly throughout a shift
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
  • Forklift certification a plus (or willingness to obtain)
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures in a manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling
  • Exposure to dust, noise, and varying indoor/outdoor temperatures
  • Ability to work around moving equipment (forklifts, trucks, pallet jacks)
