Job description
As a Child Start Coaching Coordinator, you will help unlock the potential of early childhood education. We are seeking a dynamic leader to guide a team of coach/mentors and support the growth and development of exceptional early childhood educators. In this role, you will design and implement effective coaching strategies, foster innovation in mentoring practices, and ensure new staff receive the training and support needed to succeed.
Through tailored professional development opportunities and immersive learning experiences, you will help staff gain a deep understanding of Early Head Start and Head Start programs, as well as their day-to-day operations. Working collaboratively with program leaders, you will develop targeted training initiatives that strengthen teaching practices and promote high-quality outcomes for children and families.

- Lead the selection of coaches with significant teaching experience and who can help develop teachers who are newer to the field of early childhood education.
- Provide or facilitate access to training for coaches on best coaching practices, collaborate with Education Manager to make this training available to all education staff supporting teachers.
- Assess teacher and classroom needs, provide reflection/feedback and set goals/action plans with classroom staff.
- Provide constructive feedback and support through implementing Practice Based Coaching.
- Collaborate to surround teachers with training, mentoring, encouragement and support necessary to meet program expectations.
- At the discretion of the Education Manager, may serve as a back-up teacher for the center in the event that additional support is needed to maintain child to adult ratios required by KDHE and Head Start Program Performance Standards. May also serve as substitute Center Supervisor, as needed.
- Support, encourage, and organize team building activities for coaching staff as well as all education staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field; must be able to become director qualified to meet Kansas child care licensing requirements within 6 months of hire.
- Experience: Minimum of three years’ teaching experience
- Significant experience with instructional best practices.
- Ability to model positive and healthy character traits and habits, such as organized, consistent and understanding.
- Experience working with students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Ability to work independently as well as in team situations.
- Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Ability to handle stressful and sensitive situations in a professional manner.
- Ability to determine and prioritize workload while being flexible to emergent/unplanned needs and situations.
- Ability to prioritize demands in order to meet requirements and timelines.
- Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and maintain a flexible schedule.
Child Start's Coaching Coordinator is $1,958.40 biweekly, 40 hours per week and 52 weeks per year.

This is not a remote position, must be able to commute daily to Wichita, KS.
