Job Title 

Production Supervisor- 2nd Shift

Summary

This position is responsible for overseeing a diverse and talented manufacturing team. This position will ensure that the manufacturing of products remains a smooth and efficient process by monitoring employees and organizing workflows. This position will be heavily involved with the planning, scheduling and monitoring of production throughput. The Production Supervisor position reports to the Manufacturing Manager and is a Salary-Exempt position.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises staff to produce manufactured products; organizes and monitors workflow.

  • Accomplishes manufacturing results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.

  • Assist the Plant Manager to ensure daily production schedule is met; perform daily checks to ensure the job schedule aligns with parts/component availability and demand and that employees have the resources needed to perform scheduled  tasks

  • Verify and assign necessary manpower to support schedule demand on a daily basis, while maximizing labor utilization.

  • Manage personnel issues including but not limited to vacation approvals, time card approval, daily and weekly overtime, and employee discipline as required.

  • Initiates, coordinates, and enforces systems, policies, and procedures.

  • Works with Technical Advisors to ensure production schedules are being adhered to and met. 

  • Follows urgent and rework orders through the manufacturing process for efficient completion.

  • Work with Manufacturing and Inventory Control Supervisor to assist the Materials Supervisor with review and response to expedite request inquiries. 

  • Receives, reviews, communicates and assists with the continual improvement of labor, material, and process errors identified by the Materials Analyst. 

  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing production standards. 

  • Continually reviews and audits work instructions against actual process steps.

  • Monitor, identify and continually seek improvements relating to scrap and rework issues.

  • Perform special projects as directed, as well as other duties as assigned.

  • Actively participates in 5S and Safety objectives. 

  • Utilize Epicor ERP and Qlik business intelligence apps to monitor the production schedule, labor efficiency and machine utilization on an on-going basis.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Associate’s degree in a technical field required or equivalent experience.

  • Three to five years of Production scheduling experience is required. 

  • Google Apps Platform Experience preferred – Sheets, Gmail, Docs, Forms

  • Analytical Problem Solving, critical thinking, read and interpret drawings, attention to details, measuring and math skills.

  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices, 5-S, workflow planning, production floor controls, OSHA compliance, and team building

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times.
