Job description

Accepting a role with Elders means you will be joining the family backed by a team ready to support and grow your career. Be part of a culture that has been in the making for more than 185 years, a culture so strong it is almost tangible. Much like the farmers and communities we work with, you will experience, passion, dedication and resilience across all parts of the business. With such an iconic, essential business in the Australian landscape we are confident that you too will be proud to grow your career at Elders and wear the pink shirt.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Wool Handler to join our Night Shift team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and is looking to take the next step in their career.

Working closely with the Night Shift Team Leader, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the shift. As the second-in-charge, you will provide day-to-day support to the Team Leader and have the capability and confidence to lead and manage a team of approximately six employees when required, including during periods of leave or absence.

One of the key advantages of this role is the roster, with Friday and Saturday nights off every week. It's a great opportunity to secure stable night shift work while still maintaining a healthy work-life balance and keeping your weekends free.

Responsibilities

As a key member of the branch, you will enjoy a varied day including:

  • Perform wool handling duties safely and efficiently in accordance with operational requirements.
  • Support the Night Shift Team Leader with daily workflow coordination and production targets.
  • Assist with staff supervision, training, and mentoring of team members.
  • Monitor productivity, quality standards, and workplace safety across the shift.
  • Ensure equipment and work areas are maintained to a high standard.
  • Communicate effectively with management and team members regarding operational requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate the night shift team in the absence of the Team Leader.
  • Foster a positive team culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

About you

To succeed at Elders, you:

  • Previous experience in wool handling, wool processing, warehousing, manufacturing, or a similar production environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience, or the ability and desire to step into a leadership role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet production deadlines.
  • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • Reliability, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
  • Forklift licence (desirable)
