Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Sr. Principal Field Support Responsible Electronics Engineer to join our team in Beale AFB, CA. The candidate should be a self-starter with familiarity working in an Integrated Product Team construct. This position will be within our Avionics Integration Organization.

This candidate will be responsible for the support and operation of large data centers using commercially available IT equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Sustain and provide real time direct end user support of operating systems including Windows, Linux, Solaris, and VMware ESXi

  • Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis across enterprise operating systems and networking devices.

  • Perform datacenter hardware and software integration, ensuring seamless interoperability across compute, storage and network environments.

  • Provide maintainability and sustainability guidance to the construction of rack-based datacenter systems with a focus on safety, quality, and ease of repair

  • Provide maintainability and sustainability guidance to the installation of system interconnect cabling for communications, audio, networking, and serial interfaces

  • Sustain and provide real time troubleshooting and guidance to the end user.

  • Interpret, markup/redline, and audit released engineering drawings

  • Configure IT hardware such as switches, keyboard Video Mouse (KVM)/PCOIP devices

  • Overseeing engineering changes to the system as scheduled.

  • Collaborate closely with Engineers and Technicians in a lab and production environment.

  • Direct end user support during live events.

  • Good planning, coordination, communication, and documentation skills are required.

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility.  There is NO remote / hybrid / telework available for this position.  Travel up to 25% may be required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related engineering experience

  • Ability to obtain DoD 8140 approved IAT Level II (or higher) compliant certification. (Examples include: CCNA Security, Security+CE, CCNP, and CISSP.)

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to support equipment installation

  • Experience with Windows, Linux, VMWare configuration and troubleshooting.

  • Experience and Understanding of TCP/IP, IPv4 addressing and network design including IP subnetting, VLANs and routing protocols.

  • Experience and knowledge of network security features like IP access-lists.

  • Experience with advanced features like GRE, DMVPN, IPSEC.

  • Experience with network firewalls such as Cisco ASA, Cisco Firepower or Palo Alto Networks.

  • Experience with network management protocols like SNMP, SSH, syslog, RADIUS/TACACS.

  • Experience in integration and testing of software and hardware components in Unix and windows environments.

  • Must have an active US Government Top-Secret Clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).

  • Ability to obtain and maintain US Government SCI clearance 

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD 8140 approved IAT Level II (or higher) compliant certification. Examples include: CCNA Security, Security+CE, CCNP, and CISSP.

  • Active USG Top Secret SCI clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).

  • Current clearance to a Special Access Program (SAP) or Special Compartmentalized Information (SCI) Experience working with cross functional teams

  • Researches, designs, develop, and tests a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including radar and radiation detection equipment; radio, television and other communications equipment and systems; circuitry components; analog and digital computers; and control and test equipment

Primary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $2,013,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
