Job description

We are seeking a highly capable IT Engineering Manager – Life Insurance Systems to lead and scale our engineering teams supporting core insurance platforms and sales systems. This role is responsible for driving high-quality system delivery, improving engineering productivity, and ensuring reliable and scalable solutions that support business growth.

The role requires a strong balance of technical expertise, leadership capability, and domain knowledge in life insurance systems, along with a forward-looking mindset to drive AI adoption and digital innovation.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Engineering Leadership

  • Lead and manage a team of software engineers supporting core insurance systems (Policy Administration) and sales platforms (e.g., POS tools)
  • Drive team performance, capability building, and talent development
  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement

2. Delivery & Execution

  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of system enhancements and new product features
  • Ensure timely, high-quality, and predictable delivery outcomes aligned with business priorities
  • Manage dependencies across teams including Product, Architecture, QA, and Operations

3. Technology & Solution Oversight

  • Provide technical guidance on system design, architecture, and integration
  • Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards
  • Oversee development across key technologies including Oracle (mandatory), Java, and .NET

4. Product & Business Alignment

  • Partner closely with Product, Business, and Pricing teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions
  • Ensure strong alignment with life insurance product structures, business processes, and regulatory needs

5. Engineering Excellence & Innovation

  • Drive adoption of best practices in software engineering, testing automation, and DevOps
  • Improve development productivity through standardization, reuse, and AI-enabled practices
  • Promote and lead AI adoption across development teams to enhance productivity, quality, and decision-making
  • Strengthen quality assurance, including UAT and regression efficiency


Qualifications & Experience

Mandatory Requirements

  • Proven experience managing and leading software engineering teams
  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle PL_SQL (mandatory)
  • Solid background in enterprise application development (Java preferred; .NET is an advantage)

Domain Expertise

  • Experience in life insurance industry is highly preferred
  • Min 8 years experiences
  • Familiarity with:
    • Life insurance products (e.g., protection, unit-linked, etc.)
    • End-to-end policy administration processes
    • Sales tools / distribution platforms
  • Experience working on or supporting core insurance systems (CAS / Policy Admin Systems) is a strong advantage

Leadership & Communication

  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with business and technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work across cross-functional teams and complex environments

  • Proactive and forward-looking approach with a clear vision for leveraging AI and emerging technologies to improve engineering outcomes
