Position Summary
Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a full-time Field Training and Equipment Support Specialist on the Beaver Dam Campus. The Trades Programs Field Training and Equipment Support Specialist supports the safe, organized, and effective operation of field, lab, garage, shop, equipment, vehicle, and instructional support spaces used by assigned Trades program areas. This position assists with faculty-directed, hands-on learning by preparing and maintaining training spaces, equipment, tools, and materials.
Under the direction of faculty and academic leadership, this position provides operational, equipment, safety, and student activity support to ensure training environments are functional, organized, and compliant with safety requirements. This position supports faculty-led instruction and does not provide instruction or evaluation of student learning outcomes. Assigned program areas may vary based on enrollment, program needs, field and lab schedules, facilities, equipment demands, and academic priorities.
The successful candidate will have an associate degree in a trades related field, or an equivalent combination of education and occupational experience and one to three years of related hands-on experience in a trade, mechanical, equipment-focused, or a related area.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain field, lab, shop, garage, classroom, and equipment in a safe, organized and instruction-ready condition for scheduled activities in assigned Trades program areas.
- Support faculty-directed, hands-on learning by monitoring student skill practice and reinforcing safe work practices, including proper equipment use and compliance with safety expectations.
- Assist with the setup, staging, and tear-down of materials, tools, equipment, and work areas used for training activities.
- Organize, inspect, clean, and track tools, equipment, materials, vehicles, trailers, and supplies to ensure availability, proper function and accountability.
- Assist with routine equipment checks and identify and troubleshoot items that may need repair, replacement, or removal from service.
- Maintain inventory of equipment, supplies, and instructional materials; assist with ordering, receiving, storing, and preparing equipment, materials, tools, and other program supplies.
- Assist with maintaining safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance-related logs in alignment with college and program requirements.
- Assist with projects related to field and lab improvements, equipment upgrades, storage and organization, safety enhancements, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with Trades faculty, academic leadership, facilities, safety, purchasing, and other departments to support program operations.
- Support program-related activities, including open houses, program tours, advisory committee visits, employer demonstrations, K-12 events, and other program-related activities.

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor hands-on training environments, including field, lab, shop, garage, and equipment areas.
- OSHA 10 Construction Safety certification or the ability to earn in the first semester.
- Ability to perform physical work associated with field, lab, shop, garage, material, and equipment preparation.
- Ability to follow directions, work independently, and support faculty-led activities without assuming instructional responsibility.
- Strong organizational, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to safety, professionalism, and supporting a positive student learning environment.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate program-related tools, equipment, vehicles, trailers, or material-handling equipment as assigned and in accordance with college requirements.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in or supporting skilled trades, construction, manufacturing, utilities, transportation, agriculture, facilities, or equipment-based work environments.
- Experience working around students, apprentices, trainees, employees, or teams in a support, coaching, safety, or operational capacity.
- Commercial driver’s license, equipment operation experience, or ability to obtain required certifications, if needed for assigned responsibilities.
- Journey-worker status in a skilled trade, if applicable.
Other Position Requirements
- Schedule flexibility to work in a 24x7 multi-site environment oriented toward a goal of zero downtime.
- Flexible scheduling may be required to include evenings and weekends.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Hiring Range: $25.22-$29.25
Starting: Immediately
Hours/Schedule : Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Summer : Monday - Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
