About the Position

The IT Product Owner is responsible for maximizing the business value of technology solutions within the marketing, digital engagement, and customer experience domain by owning the product vision, roadmap, and backlog, and serving as the single point of accountability for prioritization and value realization. This role partners closely with Marketing, Digital Commerce, Loyalty, and E-Commerce teams to translate business strategies into scalable, customer-centric solutions, while acting as a domain subject-matter expert to ensure systems and processes drive customer acquisition, engagement, retention, and revenue growth.

Success in this role will be measured by the consistent delivery of meaningful business value, such as increased customer engagement, loyalty participation, digital conversion, and campaign effectiveness. This includes maintaining strong stakeholder satisfaction and alignment across Marketing and IT partners, ensuring backlogs and requirements are clear, well-defined, and delivery-ready. The role is also evaluated on predictability and timeliness of delivery, as well as the adoption, usability, and overall effectiveness of solutions once implemented.

What You'll Do

  • Define and manage the product vision, roadmap, and backlog aligned to marketing, customer engagement, and business strategy.
  • Prioritize work to drive key outcomes such as customer acquisition, loyalty growth, digital engagement, personalization, and customer retention.
  • Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements; translate them into clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Serve as the marketing technology domain expert across systems supporting loyalty programs, customer communications, personalization, digital marketing, customer data, and customer-facing experiences.
  • Partner with Marketing, Digital Commerce, E-Commerce, Loyalty, and IT teams to align technology solutions with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Lead backlog refinement, support sprint planning, and accept completed work based on defined criteria.
  • Collaborate on release planning, dependencies, and risk management with delivery teams.
  • Validate solutions to ensure they meet business requirements and deliver expected value.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communication, workshops, and alignment across cross-functional teams.
  • Use data and performance metrics to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

At a minimum, what you’ll need

  • 5+ years of experience in Product Owner, Business Analyst, Business Systems, or IT Delivery roles.
  • Strong experience in requirements elicitation, process mapping, and translating business needs into technical solutions.
  • Proven experience working in Agile / Scrum environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with business and technical teams.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in retail, grocery, or multi-location environments with a strong emphasis on merchandising.
  • Hands-on experience with merchandising systems (pricing, promotions, item management, assortment planning).
  • Product Owner or Agile certification (CSPO, SAFe PO/PM) and/or Business Analysis certification (CBAP, CCBA).
  • Familiarity with SaaS platforms, system integrations, and data-driven products.
  • Experience supporting website, mobile application, loyalty, analytics, digital marketing, or customer experience platforms.
