Overview
Titan America is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Plant Attendant to join our team at the Roanoke Cement Company in Troutville, Virginia . This position performs a variety of operational, maintenance, material handling, and general labor duties that support safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible cement manufacturing operations.
The Plant Attendant plays a critical role in maintaining production efficiency by operating equipment, supporting maintenance activities, handling materials, and assisting multiple departments throughout the plant. The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical aptitude, a commitment to workplace safety, and the flexibility to work in a dynamic industrial environment.
This position offers a starting wage of $28.17 per hour . New employees will complete a 120-day probationary period during which the hourly rate will be $26.17 per hour . Upon successful completion of the probationary period, employees will transition to the full hourly rate.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand technical manuals, procedures, and instructions.
- Proven attention to detail.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, walking, and working in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade school certification, technical training, or an associate degree in a related field.
- Two or more years of industrial manufacturing or heavy equipment operating experience.
- Experience operating forklifts, loaders, or other industrial equipment.

Responsibilities
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a “Safety First” culture by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions immediately.
- Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all safety standards.
Operations
- Perform general labor duties throughout multiple plant departments.
- Operate and monitor equipment used in the cement manufacturing process, including conveyors, crushers, mills, and material handling systems.
- Meet daily production schedules and document operational performance.
- Maintain housekeeping standards throughout assigned work areas.
Maintenance Support
- Inspect equipment and identify abnormal operating conditions.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and report malfunctions or breakdowns.
- Assist maintenance personnel with repairs, preventative maintenance, and plant outages.
- Support equipment reliability through routine inspections.
Environmental Compliance
- Follow environmental regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Support dust control, emissions reduction, and spill prevention initiatives.
- Maintain work areas in a clean and environmentally responsible manner.
Material Handling
- Safely handle and transport raw materials, fuels, additives, and finished products.
- Operate forklifts, loaders, or other mobile equipment as qualified and assigned.
- Load and unload materials while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Teamwork and Communication
- Work collaboratively with operators, maintenance personnel, supervisors, and other departments.
- Communicate operational concerns, equipment issues, and safety observations promptly.
- Contribute ideas for improving safety, productivity, and efficiency.
Training and Development
- Participate in required training and certification programs.
- Develop knowledge of cement manufacturing processes and plant operations.
- Stay current on industry best practices and company procedures.
