Overview
Job Title: Senior Buyer
Location: Melville, NY (100% onsite)
Salary: $95,000-$125,000/yr DOE
Responsibilities
- Check and examine purchase requisitions assigned for proper descriptions of items, part numbers, specifications, etc., and place orders for same in accordance with established policies.
- Establish sources of supply that will ensure reasonable pricing, dependable shipment and reliable quality.
- Expedites, follows up and administers open purchase orders.
- Maintain appropriate files on all orders in process.
- Interview salespeople and vendors and refers descriptive literature to the department concerned.
- Maintain necessary liaison between all departments within the Company and vendors to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Develop new sources of supply both for new and routine materials.
- Coordinate and combine orders of different origins to take advantage of quantity prices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum of 9 years prior relevant experience or Masters degree and a minimum of 7 years prior experience or equivalent.
- 5+ years’ experience in purchasing electronic and electromechanical parts preferably in the RF Commercial Military industry
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience writing technical specifications and other
- technical documents
- Costpoint, ERP systems, Microsoft Office proficiency
