Overview
Plans, implements, supervises all athletic programs at all sites that provide sports under the supervision of the Unit Director and/or Area Director
Responsibilities
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities)
- Ensure all athletic programs and services have accurate participation records.
- Work hand-in-hand with the Unit Director and/or Area Director to:
- Plan, organize and implement Daily, Weekly and Monthly sport schedules
- Promote and stimulate youth participation.
- Increase participation yearly by at least 10% for each sport
- Ensure registration for each sport is out timely and make calls from year prior.
- Post sports schedule on social media
- Set up remind or similar app for all parents to notify if games are cancelled changed or for information.
- Communicate with parents regularly
- Secure sponsorships in conjunction with CEO & Resource Development Manager for all sports.
- Provide training for the coaches yearly per sport
- Conduct coaches’ meetings
- In the future, establish travel baseball/softball teams/tournaments that includes, marketing registration, securing coaches, and all other tasks related to the travel baseball teams.
- Work with Unit Director and/or Area Director to secure staff for concessions at all sports at least 2 people at all sport events.
- Recommend modifications that respond to member needs and interests to Unit Director and/or Area Director.
- Ensure a healthy, clean and safe environment, supervising members in assigned program area with minimal assistance.
- Manage areas and ensure a productive work environment. Contact Unit Director and/or Area Director when supplies are needed.
- Ensure that attendance, memberships and registrations are up to date and put into KidTrax/membership software tracking system.
- Establish ongoing communication with:
- Unit Director and/or Area Director, who may have you contact:
- Teachers-speaking on the phone, in person and via email to discuss students’ progress and concerns.
- Parents-Informing them every time a goal is met, letting them know progress on regular basis, alerting them of discipline mishaps
Qualifications
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITES
- Must be trained in CPR/First Aid within the first 90 days of hire
- Must have a valid State Driver’s License
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must attend weekly staff meetings
- Other duties as assigned
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal : Maintain close daily contact with Senior Program Director, Program/Teen Coordinator, and Club members.
External : Maintain contact with schoolteachers, members’ parents, and others to assist in establishing additional resources for our youth
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- College student majoring in: Education, Sociology, Recreation, or Related Field OR 4-year college degree in related field OR at least 2 years’ experience in working with youth
- Experience in planning and implementing youth sport programs.
- Knowledge of youth development
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
- Ability to work hand and hand with youths’ parent
- Ability to plan and implement quality education programs for youth
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position requires some lifting (large files, paper for printers and copier).
- Occasional traveling for training & tournaments
