Position Overview

Central Maine Medical Center is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physician to join our Nocturnal Hospitalist team. This is an excellent opportunity to practice high-quality inpatient medicine in a collaborative, patient-centered environment while enjoying a flexible nocturnist schedule.

Position Highlights

Patient Volume: Manageable nightly census with dedicated support

Coverage Model: Physician-led team with APP support (NP/PA)

Closed ICU with intensivist support

Robust specialty backup available

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient care during overnight hours

Admit patients from the emergency department

Cross-cover and manage existing hospitalized patients

Respond to overnight clinical changes and rapid responses

Collaborate with nursing staff, specialists, and care teams

Ensure thorough documentation and effective handoffs

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited program

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine

Eligible for or active Maine medical license

Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills
