Overview

The Director of Operations, Pharmacy Services is a founding leadership role responsible for building and scaling a comprehensive pharmacy enterprise within Touro College of Pharmacy. This position combines operational leadership, entrepreneurship, and healthcare innovation to expand revenue-generating service lines through the college's licensed pharmacy. The Director will identify, develop, and manage diverse ancillary pharmacy services—including specialty, community, and compounding pharmacies with immunization and clinical pharmacy services, —while fostering meaningful experiential learning opportunities for students. This role emphasizes creativity in service development, operational excellence, and alignment with the college's academic mission.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and execute strategic opportunities to expand pharmacy services in alignment with the vision and mission of Touro College of Pharmacy and Touro University
  • Lead the end-to-end development of a scalable pharmacy enterprise, from concept and feasibility through launch and scale
  • Develop business plans, feasibility studies, and pro forma models for new and existing service lines, including specialty pharmacy, clinical services, and sterile/non-sterile compounding
  • Design and build operational infrastructure, including workflows, staffing models, vendor partnerships, policies, and technology platforms
  • Launch and scale innovative ancillary pharmacy services with a focus on go-to-market, sustainability, and revenue generation
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators across clinical, operational, and financial domains; drive continuous quality improvement (CQI) and pivot strategies based on performance, market trends, and regulatory changes
  • Identify emerging trends and opportunities to evolve or expand service lines in response to market demand and institutional priorities
  • Develop and manage revenue cycle strategies, including payer contracting, specialty networks, and diversified funding streams
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and payer requirements
  • Collaborate with faculty and clinicians to integrate pharmacy services into innovative care models while supporting experiential education, residency programs, and research initiatives
  • Perform other duties and strategic projects as assigned by the Dean

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy required.
  • 10+ years of progressive administrative or equivalent leadership experience, preferably in pharmacy, pharmaceutical industry, healthcare, or a related field, with a focus on program ownership, planning, development, and implementation.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrated leadership across multiple departments or functional areas, with the ability to build collaboration and drive cross-functional initiatives.
  • Proven experience in organizational administration, including budget management, policy development, and program growth.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and foster a collegial, high-performing environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative, strategic thinking, and commitment to advancing the mission and growth of the College of Pharmacy.
