Status: 1 Regular Full Time

Salary Range: $120,401.00 – $150,501.00 per annum ( plus comprehensive benefits, where applicable )

Hiring Range: $120,401.00 – $135,451.00 per annum

Work Mode: Onsite

Location: Fernforest Paramedic Station, 1600 Bovaird Drive E., Brampton

Hours of Work: 42 hours per week, with shifts rotating in accordance with operational requirements

About the Role

The Superintendent, External Violence Against Paramedics (EVAP) leads system‑level prevention and mitigation strategies to address public‑to‑paramedic violence. This role drives a proactive, evidence‑informed approach to safety by identifying risks, supporting incident response, and advancing policies, programs, and partnerships that reduce the frequency and severity of workplace violence.

You will work collaboratively with operational leadership, frontline teams, and external partners to strengthen a culture of safety and ensure paramedics are supported in high‑risk environments.

What You'll Do

In this role you will provide strategic oversight of the EVAP program. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and coach staff using a people‑centred leadership approach and provide ongoing performance feedback
  • Develop and implement evidence‑based violence prevention strategies across paramedic services
  • Collaborate with internal partners (Operations, Education, Risk, Wellness) and external agencies to improve safety outcomes
  • Lead program operations, including strategy development, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Oversee incident reviews, risk assessments, and EVIR reporting to inform data‑driven safety interventions
  • Provide leadership in high‑risk incident response, ensuring consistent policy application and paramedic support
  • Author reports, deliver presentations, and contribute to Council and leadership briefings
  • Manage program budgets and ensure alignment with service and organizational priorities
  • Champion frontline engagement initiatives and lead training programs such as ALERT (Advanced Learning for Recognizing and Evaluating Threats)
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous learning across the organization

What You’ll Need

  • Post‑secondary degree or diploma in a related field (e.g., Leadership, Workplace Health & Safety) or equivalent experience
  • Certified Primary or Advanced Care Paramedic in Ontario with AEMCA and Base Hospital authorization
  • Minimum 5 years of full‑time paramedic experience within a municipal or regional paramedic service
  • Demonstrated leadership experience; supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong communication, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Sound judgment, resilience, and the ability to lead in high‑pressure environments
  • Proficiency with operational systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Alignment with Regional values and commitment to continuous improvement and staff safety

A satisfactory Level 1 Criminal Record Check obtained directly from a police station (third-party background checks will not be accepted)

  • Combination of education and experience may be considered
