Responsibilities
Job Purpose
The Solar Performance Engineer reports to the Sr. Director of Customer Service and provides analytical support for solar monitoring functions, advocating for improved system performance. The role is responsible for monitoring over 750 solar systems in the service portfolio and supporting communications related to financial closings.
Key Accountabilities
- Investigate daily system reports to identify equipment issues and coordinate remediation with the Field Service team.
- Facilitate system performance testing for tax equity closings.
- Support QA/QC during new system commissioning.
- Participate in Level 3 escalation for critical system issues.
- Provide feedback to Engineering on design issues identified during commissioning.
- Help provide case prioritization based on severity.
- Collaborate with vendors and partners (GPM, SolarEdge, AlsoEnergy, etc.).
- Automate systems to reduce need manual case creation.
- Support key account communications.
- Other responsibilities as required
Qualifications
Experience/Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of solar or battery industry experience.
- 5+ years of analytical experience in O&M or asset management.
- Knowledge of PV O&M operations (preferred).
- Technical knowledge of DAS and SCADA (preferred).
- Advanced Excel and automation skills.
