Responsibilities
The Commercial Loan Documentation Specialists are responsible for accurately creating commercial loan closing documents. This role must understand the commercial online application system (CML), Laser Pro documentation system, ONB loan policy and Commercial Guidelines and Procedures. The specialists use loan approvals, ONB loan guidelines, organizational documents, and third-party reports to complete a pre-closing review of each transaction to create accurate closing documents while meeting established service level expectations.
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $18.25/Hr. - $29.75/Hr.. Final compensation will be determined by location, skills, experience, qualifications and the career level at which the position is filled.
Key Accountabilities
Pre-Closing Review
- Completes a thorough pre-closing review of entity organizational documents and collateral information, including UCCs, title searches and/or title commitments, appraisals, environmental due diligence, and flood determinations.
- Utilizes Loan Guidelines and commercial procedures to ensure documents are prepared in accordance with approval document.
- Communicates effectively with other members of the Loan Fulfillment team, Relationship Managers, CBS’, Credit Underwriters, in-house legal counsel, and Loan Servicing to resolve any issues or answer questions prior to releasing the closing package.
Preparation of Loan Documents
- Utilizes special loan software to produce accurate and complete loan documents.
- Prepares template documents outside of loan software (i.e. Rate Modifications & Due Date Changes)
Service
- Manages workflow to ensure adherence to service level expectations.
- Serves as a resource to complete second reviews or document preparation for pre-closing specialists during high volumes.
- Exhibits flexibility in response to the changing banking environment.
- Assists in training new team members, creating and updating processes and procedures for the department.
- Works effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Provide options and solutions when issues arise.
- Tracks upcoming letter of credit expiration dates.
Additional position levels
In addition to the core job requirements outlined above, the Senior & Team Lead roles are also accountable for:
Senior Specialist
- Acts effectively as the first step in the escalation process and exception decisions.
- Assists in second level reviews of critical items, as needed, to ensure accuracy prior to releasing closing documents.
- Completes a comprehensive review of loan documents prepared by outside legal counsel to ensure they meet serviceability requirements and terms of approval.
- Prepares specialty lending products such as letters of credit and installment payment contract
- Prepares boarding documents for attorney prepared loans, syndications, participations, advise lines, and bond notes
- Senior role may also include document preparation for specialty lending products (i.e. USDA, Main Street lending, etc.).
- Assists in training new team members.
- Assists in creating and updating processes and procedures for the department.
- Assists management with special projects.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- Minimum five years of experience working with commercial lending documentation.
- High level of knowledge of loan documents, Bank loan policy and Commercial Guidelines & Procedures.
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem resolution skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- (for Manager) Experience with or aptitude for managing a team of associates in a high intensity environment with service level expectations.
