Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Decommissioning Project Engineer with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.

The decommissioning group at Wood consists of a small core team based in Aberdeen with support from other office locations. The team is keen to develop talent and grow the decommissioning capability within Wood, and therefore will recruit a project engineer to support various projects both UK and internationally. The selected individual will be motivated to expand both their engineering experience and also build a rounded knowledge of the decommissioning process, alongside and outwith their core discipline.

This proposed role will support delivery of engineering excellence in the assigned project(s) through coordinating and delivering the engineering scope to schedule and in accordance with applicable procedures, specifications and standards.

More specifically, they will;

  • Support Project Manager on project on day-to-day basis
  • Produce project management/execution deliverables
  • Undertake basic schedule preparation, planning and resource forecasting for engineering activities
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of work, to the satisfaction of both internal & external Customers
  • Alert the Project Manager in the event of potential delays or change; supports implementation of approved changes.
  • Develop understanding of relevant engineering and HSSES procedures and standards
  • Support the decommissioning team with centre of excellence activities, including but not limited to supporting proposals, workshops and growth and strategy development

They may also be required to support the preparation of proposals to client, attend client meetings and workshops, and generally supplement/ take a PE role with projects requiring additional resource therefore a flexible and enthusiastic mindset is essential.

Project deliverables and liaison with different stakeholders

  • Under close direction and guidance of Project Manager of the project, coordinates discipline input to deliverables
  • Develops understanding of Quality, Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSES) standards, procedures, work practices and literature
  • Liaison with different stakeholders of the project
  • Liaison and manage vendors/suppliers

Development and Management of Schedule

  • Plans individual work activities and manages time; liaises with disciplines to ensure timely receipt of

comments.

  • Follows and delivers against the project engineering hours budget and schedule requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews to learn requirements and follow up on actions.

Wood team members – including estimating, subsea and decommissioning project managers and function director, and client representatives, vendors/suppliers.

  • Ability to work under little or no supervision on the assigned tasks.
  • Accountable for delivery of client contract tasks ensuring they are completed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Reporting ultimately to the Decommissioning Director, and on a by-project basis to the relevant PM

Qualifications

  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in an engineering discipline

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • In addition to undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience, the individual should ideally have work experience in the industry which would allow understanding of and exposure to key principles.
  • 5+ years of work experiences in engineering and execution, preferred to have decommissioning experiences
