Job description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Control Centre and Compliance supervisor with previous experience within the Renewables industry.

The supervisor will be responsible for managing the control centre and the programme of projects being delivered by the control centre which covers a number of Wind and Solar farm sites across the UK.

They will ensure the projects are being delivered safely, on-time, to budget and to the required standard. As part of this role they will seek out further opportunities to develop and improve the control centre software and tools and ensure the control room team are trained and aware of all existing and new health and safety (H&S) legislations.

As part of their responsibility for compliance the supervisor will manage the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inventory for the wider team and maintain training records, ensuring that team members and their managers are made aware of any refresher requirements.

They will also be responsible for ensuring that the remote industrial unit complies with all H&S requirements.

This position is essential to the smooth operations of the UK sites and is ideal for an experienced Control room Operator within the renewables industry who has a diligent approach to Health Safety and compliance in all processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the day to day operations of the control room and team
  • Ensure compliance with Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR), site grid obligations and any other statutory requirements
  • Management of a rota for the delivery of a 24/7/365 control centre shift pattern ensuring the full utilisation of the team
  • Ensure asset availability is high and in line with contractual obligations
  • Delegate projects and assign resource to enable the delivery of projects as required
  • Define and develop a robust reporting strategy for the team to enable consistency, timely issue reporting and accurate project status reporting
  • Review summarised information regarding the project’s financial status and progress to assess if projects are on track for successful completion and raise concerns with Project Managers (PMs) for their resolution
  • Compliance with all H&S and Quality legislation, company and any specific site requirements by the teams and reporting of any incidents to the PM updating and mainting relevant systems
  • Ensure Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Team key accounts are maintained and key account managers are in place and actively involved in the virtual business development team
  • Ensuring training records for the Control team and wider team are maintained and refreshers organised
  • Ensure PPE is inspected and remains compliant
  • Ensure that remote storage facility is maintained and compliant with H&S policies and building regulations

Qualifications

Experience

  • Previous Control Room experience within wind turbine industry or similar environment is essential
  • Awareness of all key renewable energy technologies
  • Line management experience
  • Wind Turbine Safety Rules experience
  • Project management experience
  • Stakeholder management
  • Contract management
  • Knowledge of statutory requirements related to PPE inspections
  • Knowledge of Renewables Industry training requirements

Skills

  • Development of new services within the control centre
  • Ability to recruit, manage, motivate and mentor a team
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities and allocate suitable resource
  • Ability to review high quality concise proposals in order to win work and authorise reports to convey asset performance and financial information to clients
  • Excellent IT skills particularly across the Microsoft Packages
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills to allow delivery of tasks in a logical and methodical manner
  • Ability to operate at all levels of a business and convey detailed project information in a concise manner
