This position is ideal for an experienced operations leader who enjoys developing teams, optimizing manufacturing performance, and creating a culture centered on safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting operational goals while ensuring products are produced efficiently and to the highest standards.

About the Position The Manufacturing Operations Manager will provide leadership for day-to-day production activities, partnering with supervisors and cross-functional departments to maintain operational excellence. This role requires a hands-on leader capable of balancing people development, process improvement, and performance management in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities Production Leadership

  • Direct manufacturing activities to ensure production schedules and operational targets are achieved
  • Oversee workflow across multiple shifts and departments
  • Promote efficient utilization of labor, equipment, and resources
  • Support production planning efforts to maximize output and customer satisfaction

Safety & Quality Excellence

  • Champion workplace safety initiatives and reinforce compliance with company policies
  • Promote a culture where product quality and food safety remain top priorities
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal quality standards
  • Partner with quality teams to address issues and implement preventive measures

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and operational performance
  • Lead process improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste and increasing throughput
  • Utilize performance metrics to evaluate results and drive decision-making
  • Support implementation of Lean principles and best manufacturing practices

Team Development

  • Coach, mentor, and develop supervisors and production personnel
  • Foster accountability, engagement, and professional growth across the workforce
  • Assist with workforce planning, staffing needs, and employee performance management
  • Build a positive, collaborative environment focused on operational success

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime
  • Coordinate with supply chain, quality, and operational departments to support production goals
  • Help resolve operational challenges through effective communication and problem-solving
  • Participate in strategic initiatives designed to enhance facility performance

Qualifications Successful candidates will typically bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Food Science, Manufacturing, or a related discipline preferred
  • 5 or more years of leadership experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience in food production or consumer packaged goods manufacturing strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement methodologies, and operational excellence principles
  • Understanding of GMPs, food safety programs, sanitation requirements, and regulatory compliance
  • Experience managing production teams across multiple shifts
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to interpret performance data and translate insights into action plans
