Our Technology team has 6 different departments: Information Security, Service Delivery, Business Enabling Systems, eCommerce & Marketing Technology, Data and Stores, Services & Supply Chain.

Whether it’s online or in our stores, the work that the IT team does is instrumental in PetSmart’s success. We have a strategic and actionable plan underway and are looking for associates who are just as excited about it as we are.

About the Location

Collaborative Work Environment: At PetSmart, teamwork and connection are core to how we thrive. This role is based at our Phoenix Home Office, with an expectation of working a minimum of four days in the office each week. In a standard work week, associates may work up to one remote “flex day” (with leader approval). Our hybrid approach is designed to foster strong collaboration while also supporting flexibility and individual success.

Onsite Position

This position is considered to be Fully Onsite, work is to be done onsite at a PetSmart location (Phoenix Home Office, PetSmart stores, Merchandise Development Center, Distribution Centers or another PetSmart site).

Field Position

This position is considered Field based and is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Field associates will spend their time both traveling to and spending time in various PetSmart locations and can expect to be asked to travel to Phoenix Home Office periodically throughout the year. Field associates typically work out of their home office when not traveling as outlined above.

About the Job

The Sr. Product Manager is designed for an ecommerce expert that will be responsible for leading the strategy, vision, and roadmap for the customer-facing mobile app that serves our pet parents in their online and omni journeys. This role is responsible for articulating and setting the direction for a seamless browse, buy, and in-store experience that keeps our customers connected and informed. By partnering with stakeholders across the organization, understanding business needs and collaborating with the engineering teams, this individual will be responsible for bringing app features and enhancements to life.

  • Product visionary : Defines the vision for the app, especially in the search and browse space, driven by data, insights, and research that aligns with PetSmart’s overall strategic vision and goals. Leads Product Management ‘center of excellence’ by focusing on best practices and being an advocate for process improvements that impact the enterprise.
  • Product roadmap : Develops, prioritizes, communicates, and provides leadership with a product roadmap that creates best-in-class customer experiences based on understanding of the customer across all channels. Defines all KPIs for success of the products on the roadmap; continuously monitors those KPIs post-implementation to validate hypotheses, and understands future enhancement opportunities. Articulates clear product priorities driven by data and expected outcomes that are inclusive of measurable KPIs and targets that align with company and business goals. Optimizes the product and feature roadmap assessing priorities and trade-offs.
  • Customer Advocate : Works closely with internal UX and the A/B testing teams to define solutions that address customer needs and areas of opportunity as well as tests for upcoming initiatives and future itierations. Deeply understands customer pain points through research and data, translating them into clear, concise epic-level requirements.
  • Communication : Manages relationships with stakeholders, intakes their requests, gathers requirements, discusses prioritization, and is transparent about timing and delivery. Communicates product updates to all stakeholders over the course of multiple meetings and various communication methods (email, Sharepoint, Confluence, JIRA, etc.). Collaborates with business stakeholders to maintain a backlog of feature requests and a robust product roadmap. Ensures coordination and collaboration across product managers to properly manage dependencies and avoid duplication of work. Presents to executive leadership on a regular basis, outlining success, metrics, and strategy.
  • Continual Improvement : Understands technical issues to effectively make decisions around prioritizing new features, reducing technical debt and improving resiliency. Fully understands and remains up-to-date on the competitive landscape. Discovers testing opportunities with new or existing features. Oversees product through all stages of the lifecycle and ensure product maintenance and scalability features are properly prioritized, in addition to enhancements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Product Manager discipline
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Digital, Analytics, Marketing or similar. Or equivalent work experience.
  • Ecommerce experience, preferrably in retail
  • Omnichannel experience would be a plus
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Experience using JIRA, Confluence and Sharepoint
  • Google Analytics tools
  • Product experience with Android and iOS mobile apps preferred
  • Familiar with Scaled Agile Framework and Agile principles
