Job Summary

The Peer Support Supervisor provides leadership and oversight to a team of Peer Counselors delivering youth and family behavioral health services. This role combines supervision, direct service, and program coordination to ensure participants receive high-quality, culturally responsive care. The Supervisor supports the day-to-day operations of the program, including staff scheduling, coverage, and responding to urgent situations. They provide regular individual supervision, coaching, and development to team members while maintaining a reduced caseload to stay connected to direct service delivery.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday days. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Hiring Range: $32.50-$36.50/hr

Schedule: Monday-Friday; 9:00am-5:00pm with occasional evening and on-call responsibilities

Location: Auburn/Kent locations of CCORS South region team.

Responsibilities

  • Carry a caseload of up to 50% of an FTE for your team, as programmatically necessary.
  • Supervise a team of Peer Counselors, including Peer Lead(s)
  • Support the day-to-day operations including: scheduling, coverage needs and responding to emergencies
  • Provides weekly individual supervision with each assigned supervisee
  • Completes and maintains credentials for: 1) Peer Supervisor Training course, 2) Certified Peer registration as an affiliated counselor with WA state Department of Health
  • Ensures all staff complete and maintain credentials for Certified Peer registration as an affiliated counselor with WA state Department of Health
  • Assign cases to supervisees and monitor staff documentation and individual case records by utilizing the reports in the electronic health record, this includes, regularly approving services, periodically spot-checking case records from each staff and ensure timely documentation of services and productivity
  • Represents the YMCA at interdisciplinary community meetings
  • Ensures all participants served receive high quality and effective services
  • Ensures urgency, intensity and frequency of services calibrated to the youth and family’s individual cultural background and mental health needs, and that families are bridged to long term community support
  • Ensure staff interface and effectively work with courts, probation department, and other agencies and professionals, and that they develop successful treatment programs for various types of individuals
  • Supports the Clinical Director with the programmatic and operational needs of the regional team and works collaboratively with all members of the regional leadership team.
  • Conducts quality assurance (QA) activities so that all services are delivered and documented per WAC and King County contractual requirements and participates in formal QA review process
  • Supports in the preparation of county or state reports and audits and responds to corrective action post audit
  • Partners with leaders in other YMCA programs and divisions to build community across the Y and to ensure participants are receiving relevant and effective services
  • May participate in weekly on call supervisor rotation
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in relevant program area or equivalent education, work, and/or life experience. Other applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position, will be considered.
  • Meet all requirements for Approved Peer Support Specialist Supervisor by WA state Department of Health
  • Attestation of self-identification as in recovery for Substance Use Disorder (SUD) or Mental Health treatment (or the parent/legal guardian of someone in recovery)
  • Completion of Peer Support Specialist Training (or commitment to upon hire), which includes passing the written exam and exit interview
  • Proof of 1500+ hours worked as a Certified Peer Support Specialist working with high risk, systems involved (i.e. homeless, justice, behavioral health, foster care) youth young adults, families or equivalent experience providing community-based services to diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.)
  • Experience and knowledge with youth behavior management and child abuse prevention.
  • Intermediate computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to visit sites and community organizations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, social services, or a closely related field from an accredited school
  • Ability to speak any language in addition to English.
  • Life experience with poverty, child welfare, homelessness, behavioral health, or youth violence and a desire to use that experience to improve the lives of others.

This role has the potential to transport clients as an “authorized driver” for the YMCA of Greater Seattle (YGS) using an employer-provided vehicle. Driving duties for this role are optional, but preferred.* Driving roles are safety-sensitive. To become an authorized driver, you must be 21+, have possessed a driver's license for at least 3 years, and pass a drug screen that will test for impairing substances (including marijuana) in addition to meeting the driving record standards below:

YGS Driving Record Standards

Within the last three (3) years: No more than two (2) vehicle related suspension(s) and/or reinstatement(s). No more than two (2) moving violations and/or accidents. Moving violations include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Speeding
  • Improper Lane Change
  • Failure to Yield in Right-of-Way
  • Failure to Obey Traffic Signal
  • Failure to obey Traffic Sign

Within the last five (5) years: No Major Violations which include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • DUI, DWI, OUI, OWI, BUI (Boating), Administrative Per Se, or Refusing to Test
  • Driving with an open container of alcohol
  • Reckless Driving
  • Hit andRun– property damage only (Incidents involving injury fall under Permanent Disqualification)
  • Racing
  • Driving with a suspended/revoked license/insurance
  • Speeding over 20 mph
  • Fleeing and/or eluding police
  • Any other felony driving conviction(s)

Driving records that result in Permanent disqualification from driving duties:

  • More than 3 DUI, DWI, OUI, OWI, BUI, Administrative Per Se, or Refusing to Test forentiretyof driving history.
  • More than 3 Driving with a suspended/revoked license
  • Hit andRunresulting in bodily injury or death
  • Manslaughter/felony death by motor vehicle

*Due to state-specific reporting requirements in our driver management system, we are not currently able to enroll California Driver's License holders as Authorized Drivers.
