As a Crisis Assessment Specialist you will be responsible for assessment of clients in consultation and cooperation with emergency department personnel, psychiatrists, clinicians, attending physicians and managed care representatives. While in this position you will provide recommendation for disposition. The Crisis Assessment Specialist may perform the following as required: face-to-face evaluations, telehealth (video) triage evaluations, respond to and/or triage patient/family complaints, assist in management of all assessment records, perform statistical analysis.

Guided by CommonSpirit values, this dual-role position provides therapeutic support within the inpatient behavioral health unit while also completing psychiatric and level-of-care assessments throughout the hospital system to ensure patients receive the care that best fits their individual needs. This role is ideal for a trauma-informed clinician who is passionate about crisis intervention, patient advocacy, and whole-person care. Key Responsibilities - Maintain an active inpatient behavioral health caseload, including therapeutic interventions and groups, discharge planning, and patient support.- Complete psychiatric and behavioral health assessments throughout the hospital to determine appropriate level-of-care recommendations and placement needs.- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, physicians, nursing staff, and community resources to support safe patient care transitions.- Provide compassionate, trauma-informed, patient-centered care that promotes dignity, emotional safety, and healing.- Assist with treatment planning, documentation, and coordination of behavioral health services.
Job Requirements
In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
- At least one year crisis experience, preferred 2 years’ experience in direct behavioral health clinical care.
- Competence with DSM diagnostic criteria and treatment planning
- Demonstrates clinical and ethical professionalism, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills
- Adequate and available transportation for response to various evaluation sites
- Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Nursing or related behavioral health field
- Current License in the state of employment in one of the following disciplines: Clinical Psychologist (PSY), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist (RN CNS) or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (RN NP). Psych Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), and/or Licensed Additionals Counselor (LAC). For positions at our Utah facilities only: Current license in the state of employment in one of the following disciplines: Certified Social Worker (CSW), Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor (ACHMC), Associate level Mental Health Therapy License, and Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, if proper supervision is required and can be met by hospital staff

Physical Requirements-Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
